As a big fan of platformers, I have recently finished Klonoa 2 for PS2. The gameplay is excellent and well balanced and I highly recommend the game. But there is potential replay that will not be tapped now - hopefully the PS3 will remedy this.
After beating Klonoa 2, the player is invited to replay the levels for either a time attack challenge or to get as many gems as possible. I have succeeded on the first level by getting every gem; for the accomplishment the game rewards me with a drawing of the level - ho hum.
What I envision for current and next gen consoles is that the time attack time I achieve will be compared to every gamer in the world who has completed the same level. I would love to know that I have the 42,210th fastest time in the world. My dream is also that the game will total all of your accomplishments for the game and tell me where I am in comparison with the world: for instance the 14th percentile among registered Klonoa 3 players.
If the systems can do this, that game would be running now as opposed to sitting on the shelf.
