I haven't been on Gamespot much lately. I've been mainly playing CS1.6 and focusing on my school work. I am back now for a bit and hopefully I stay for a while :D. Since my absense I have gained an Xbox 360 and I played that for a bit but what has really brought me back to this site is the recent release of Pokemon Platinum for DS. Me being who I am, I love pokemon so this is really awesome to be able to play a new Pokemon game again. I have also been looking at some other DS games which I seem to have slipped by me when they were released. I should be getting Pokemon Platinum along with Final Fantasy Tactics A2 in the next few days. I was going to post another anime review blog a while ago but I got really bored while typing it so I probably won't post another one of those anytime soon.

Today started out as a normal day. Wake up late, watch some anime, eat food etc. It was when I was watching Out of the Box on Screwattack that I got sudden hunger for Pizza. After talking to my friend on MSN for a while we decided to go to Hell (NZ Pizza Chain). After enjoying our delicious pizza we somehow ended up on a bus to the city. We spent 2 hours at a net cafe where I played ESF (Earths' Special Forces, a DBZ Half Life mod) and a bit of WoW. It was when we went to the arcade that the most amazing thing ever happened. I sat down on the Guilty Gear XX #RELOAD machine and got almost to end of arcade mode when an asian guy only the other machine challenges me. This guy looked like he had some straight from Seoul and was ready to kick my ass. However something amazing happened and I beat him. Twice! It was at that moment that I realised that I had achieved greatness.

Welcome to the first ever edition of "My Anime Watchings" this is where I am going to basically recap and review the anime have watched recently. I am going to make this a regular thing, so hopefully people might actually read my blog. All Anime (Unless stated otherwise) has been watched in the original Japanese audio with English subtitles.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Comedy, Science fiction

Overview:
It's basically about an average high school boy (Kyon) who discovers that the weird girl at his school (Haruhi) is actually god, only she doesn't know it.

The Good:
It has a great story to it, really funny, likeable characters, the ending song is uber catchy, there is a bit of romance thrown in, aliens, time travel, psychic, its not too long, left some room for a second season.

The Bad:
In Japan the series was uploaded out of chronological order which makes thing confusing.

Verdict:
Really Good, 9/10, Go watch it now.

Lucky Star
Comedy, Slice of Life

Overview:
This anime is basically about nothing. It's just 4 high school girls going on with their normal lives.

The Good:
Very funny, full of anime references, the Lucky Channel skits at the end are hilarious, all the characters are likeable, it's not too long, the opening song is catchy, full of kawaii.

The Bad:
Nothing, nothing at all.

Verdict:
Perfect 10/10, Go watch it now.

sola
Drama, Fantasy, Romance

Overview:
One morning while taking pictures of the sunrise, Yorito meets a girl named Matsuri who, due to being a magical being, cannot go out into daylight. Yorito promises Matsuri that he will show her the sky.

The Good:
The story is great, characters are likeable, everything is quite unpredictable, not too long, the fantasy elements are great.

The Bad:
Again, there is nothing wrong at all.

Verdict:
Perfect 10/10, Go watch it now.

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora
Drama, Romance

Overview:
Yuichi is in hospital with Hepatitis A. While in hospital he falls in love with a girl named Rika who only has a few months to live due to a heart valve problem.

The Good:
Funny in some parts, great romance, simple and understandable story, most characters are likeable.

The Bad:
Some of the characters are really hard to like, it's a bit too short (6 eps), very very sad.

The Verdict:
8/10 Great, if you are in the mood for a quick tear jerker, this is what you want.

Kanon (2006)*
Drama, Fantasy, Harem, Romance

Overview:
Yuuichi is staying with his Aunt and Cousin in a town he hasn't visited in 7 years. Yuichi can't remember anything about his past visits but is forced after meeting some long lost friends.

The Good:
Great story that keeps you guessing until the last episode, likeable characters, nice length, the fantasy elements are great.

The Bad:
In some parts it gets really sad (this may be a good thing for some people), unlikeable opening and ending songs.

Verdict:
Perfect 10/10, Another good tear jerker, Go watch it now.

*Another version of Kanon was made in 2002, I watched the 2006 version.

Air
Drama, Fantasy, Romance

Overview:
Yukito is travelling across Japan seaching for "The Girl in the Sky" his mother used to talk about. During his travels he meets a clumsy girl name Misuzu who is eager to become friends with him.

The Good:
Likeable characters, good story, great opening song.

The Bad:
The story was told quite poorly, after watching all 13 episodes I was still confused, it was too short, the ending sucked, the romance was almost non existent.

Verdict:
Good 7/10, don't watch this if you're not in a thinking mood.

Clannad
Drama, Fantasy, Romance

Overview:
Tomoya is typical high school student who is going nowhere, one day he meets Nagisa, a girl who has had to repeat a year due to her sickness and now has no friends. Tomoya decided to help Nagisa by becoming her friend and helping her start up the Theatre Club.

The Good:
Great characters, great romance, great story, not too long, great ending song, quite funny in some parts, left some room for a second season.

The Bad:
Absolutely nothing.

Verdict:
Perfect 10/10, Go watch it now.

Strawberry Panic
Drama, Romance, Yuri

Overview:
Nagisa is a new transfer student at an a girls bording school.

The Good:
Lesbians, Kagome is uber kawaii.

The Bad:
The story is lacking, it's quite slow, I had to force myself to watch the last few episodes, the yuri can be a bit over the top sometimes, there are no males characters at all, ending is bad.

Verdict:
Alright 6/10, not the best anime out there.

I'm bored so I thought I would post a blog cause I can. My birthday is coming up (27th) so I'm pretty excited for that because I am getting Mario Kart Wii. It seems that UK review sites that already have the game are giving it scores of around 8.0 and 8.5 which isn't as good as I expected. I don't really care, it's friggin Mario Kart, it's gonna be fun. I just finished watching an anime called Sola which was really good, I even cried at the end (Shh don't tell anyone). Sola was apparently voted the number 1 anime of 2007 by Japanese people which I completely agree with, although Lucky Star was really good aswell. OMG today I decided I would play Final Fantasy X, which I bought ages ago but never got around to playing it, anyway I put it in the PS2 and it won't load. It gets to the PlayStation 2 screen but then it's just blackness and clicking sounds. The disc is pretty scratched up so I tried cleaning it and attacking it with toothpaste (don't ask) but it still doesn't work. I went to Dick Smith's today (electronics store) to see if they sold cd scratch repairer, they do but it's $40. I can buy a preowned copy of FFX again for $34 so I think I'll pass on that. I bought 007 Goldeneye off Trademe (New Zealand online auction site) and WWF War Zone is on it's way. Um... I can't think of anything else to say so I'll end it here. Mhmmm that was a lot of typing for something that only like 2 or 3 people are gonna read, oh well.

With my newfound uber skills at photoshop I made a new banner and a blog image thing. So completely ignore my last blog post and behold the glory that is my banner.

Any thoughts on it? It didn't take me very long to make, the hardest part was finding the Sega font. I got the pictures off google and assembled it on paint.

This my first blog post. Just a short thing here. I'm getting a Wii on Tuesday, YAY! I'm not gonna get a game for a while, instead I'm going to get a points card and a GC controller so I can play thorugh TLOZ: OOT and a SNES game which I haven't decided on yet, I'll probably get one that doesn't have a PAL conversion issue. I'll have to check wikipedia for that. I could also get a Mega Drive game. Looks like I got some deciding to do. I'm also going to get the internet channel so I can watch youtube videos on my tv and hear them on there too. If I want to watch a video on my tv off my computer I usually use an S-Video cable but no sound comes through with that. Anyway thats my blog and because I have only 3 trackers not many people are going to read this. Oh well. See ya
