Okay there's a lot of BS in this thread.

First of all, RE was never designed to be frusterating to control in the first place. Nor should it be. RE's control system was designed with the 2D backdrops in mind, so you could better control where your player is going. In games where the the camera rapidly changes this is necessary to makes sure the player keeps going forward. Even without 2D backdrops non "tank" controls can be more of a curse, than a blessing, because as soon as a camera angle changes there is a chance you might not adapt quickly enough and run right back into what you were trying to escape from. After at least half an hour you should be able to feel perfectly capable of controlling your characters in a classic RE game.

Classic RE is not "outdated" and "outdone" by RE4 and RE5 because RE4 and RE5 do not build upon their predecessor. In other words, we've never actually seen a true evolution of the original RE series. The games have fundamentally different goals in mind, but at their core RE4 and RE5 strive to be action games with superheroes to some extent, while classic RE emphasized on "struggle," strategizing, horror, and playing on the weaknesses of strong characters.

But there is one thing that is true in this thread. If Capcom were to make a classic RE game at this point, theres the chance that it would score low simply because many reviewers dont realize that current RE is not a evolution of classic RE, its merely a genre shift made in order to revitalize the series after milking it dry with two side games, a prequel, and an (albeit excellent) remake.

I agree totaly, what i dont like is the genre shift... and is it just me? or does the story seem like its phoned in at this point.... umbrella is gone its now bio terrorism.. so i guess the argument can be made that umbrella was never really the true enemy wesker was... reguardless it seems like its stretching it a little thin at this point whereever any of them goes they hit the same virus "oops". While 4 was good im left to wonder if the series should of just wrapped up with code veronica.

Dude, regenerating health is the best thing that happend for FPS's, whitout it you would just be worying about when you can find your next checkpoint or health pack. With regenerating health, you can consentrate on shoting the ennemy and enjoying the game, and it becomes less of a game of memorisation like the old shooters.

doobie1975

It dumbs the shooters down to a casual bore fest, taking away any reasonable challenge in replacement for accesibility. It is the WORST thing to happen to FPS. You want a good health system? Half Life 2s and STALKERs.

yeah but in stalker you have to lean on the quick save. i found that game sooo frustrating. enemies who can get headshots from 20 miles away isnt fun in my book. shame cos other than that it great

plus regen health worked ok in crysis... is that a dumbed down shooter

Its alright in some games but its becomming the standard. having to wait for healthpacks and such make you have to use stratagy in games rather then rush in take a few hits to get the kill with no worries. Also with this note in co-op being able to rez your partner by hugging them or respawns. halo 3 on legendary was a joke... just have 1 play snyper the other gunner, if the gunner dies run to a secure spot for the rez wash rinse repeat.

If you had the atmosphere of the old games coupled with the new camera system and add in some better controls and i think it would be about perfect. The first ones were great because it was a challenge, limited ammo, tough enemys and puzzles to solve. I dont know why they would change this. Now its basicly a run and gun, and i particularly dislike 5 because it gives very little dirrection in some areas, resulting in cheap deaths . Mind you im playing on vetran but still...

The changes to 4 were great... 5 butchered it though... this is supposed to be survival horror notrun and gun... Im currently on vetran chapter 4-1 and this game might as well be called gears of evil 5... with worse controls.shame on you capcom for ruining one of my fave series ill rent the next one tks.

Tales of Vesperia hands down . Best RPG this gen period and one of my fav's all time . Having the lead char that is somewhat an anti hero is fantastic.

I love the Wii, initially it was the only 1 of the 3 that was actually priced affordably. Do you really believe if it wasnt for the appeal of the Wii Sony and Microsoft would of dropped there prices? No of course they wouldnt have, they wouldnt of had any need to. They did that to remain competitive and to try and take back some of the marketshare the Wii was stealing. Ive been gaming since 85, and I will never pay more then 300 for a console, no matter what else it does or what graphics it has.

I buy consoles to game, thats all and Microsoft and Sony shouldnt get credit for dropping the price after the fact because they realize most people arnt willing to pay huge amounts to game on a console. Nintendo kept prices affordable and won with innovation, while its not perfect its a step in the right dirrection.

the only thing i see people talking about is the level creator, well this isnt something that is really new.. and most games that have the options to create levels dont use the option, or even downloading the levels dont really use it.. with the exception of fps. So outside of having the ability to create levels what is the apeal of this game?
