Horror In Hollywood.

Few months ago i went to see the movie The hills Have Eyes 2. I thought that finally Wes Craven and his Son might be able to deliver the sense of horror i so badly want in horror movies but sadly it was even more pathetic than i thought. The whole movie was one giant Gorefest. Whant i really want to know is that what on earth is happening with the Horror genre in Hollywood. I mean 2 or 3 decades ago we made some truly good horror movies such as Exorcist, Nightmare on elm Street. I mean i was actually afraid of what might be under my bed after watching Nightmare on Elm Street but i don't know what is happening today to horror movies. Today i laugh at them while i am watching them. There is no sense of dread, horror and creepiness which made movies such as Rosemary's Baby an instanthit. All i see in today's horror movies are gore, gore and more gore. Another thing that really bugs me is the lack of a good story in today's horror movies. Heck they can't even make a good remake of an original. For example i was literally scared after i saw the original Japanese Ringu but i didn't even felt a slightest bit of horror in the American remake of the movie. Are we really that helpless that we can't even make a good remake? Lack of originality is another thing which, in my opinion is plaguing the horror genre. All they can show now in a horror movie is creepy little girls and pld demented houses. We have two of the most brilliant minds in Horror fiction yet we do nothing to use their material to a good use. I am a big fan of both Stephen King and an even bigger fan of H.P. Lovecraft and personally i prefer Lovecraft over King. Yet still directors don't use his stories. Personally i am so fed up with these cheesy horror movies that now i really don't even care if this genre fades away much like Westerns (a genre i dearly miss).
