Merry Christmas! /TV/Layout

Merry Christmas, everyone! :) I hope you all had a great holiday, and I hope you all will have a great New Year's as well =].

I had a pretty good holiday so far. I got the usual - money, clothes, etc., and The Office season 4, The Simpsons season 7 and an awesome Dunder Mifflin scarf :). I'm probably going to buy 30 Rock season 2, Flight of the Conchords season 1, and Lost season 1 with my money. Speaking of Lost, I can't wait for the fifth season premiere!

Btw, why do they keep changing the layout? No one really liked the last one, and one of the main complaints was too much white, especially in the background. So what do they do? Add more white. Pretty ridiculous. I hate that our profile box in the upper right corner is hidden; having to keep remembering to hover over it to check for PMs and subs is a pain. I also hate that we can't see our level meter there anymore. The forums on this site have definitely been less active =[. Ah, but what's the point in complaining, they never listen to us, right?

And just a little shameless plugging, of course :)... If you guys are bored and looking for a game to play on this site for a little bit, I'm hosting another edition of Survivor ORG (Online Reality Game). I won last season's, and it was a lot of fun. I need seven more players before we can begin. Here's the link if you're interested: http://www.tv.com/tv-show-fun-andamp-games/survivor-solomon-islands-org/topic/76588-1203626/msgs.html .

I just watched Wall-E tonight, and it was pretty good. Wall-E was adorable, the story was interesting, and it had a good message. It is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year :). I've also heard that Milk and Slumdog Millionaire are good, and I can't wait to see those. Any other movies you recommend? =]

I hope everyone has a great holiday season :)

Update / Obama '08 (Hey, that rhymed!)

Hey guys, I haven't really updated in awhile... sorry! =/ I've been pretty busy with senior year of high school and applying to colleges. I only have a few more applications to send in, and then I'm done :)

I'm sure you're all pretty sick of hearing about the American election by now. Me too - I personally think they go on way too long, and every little detail about the candidates is dug up and used against them in some way.

All I have to say is that America definitely made the right choice. If I was old enough to vote, I would have voted for Obama. I fully respect McCain, though, and felt he would have made an alright leader, but Obama was the better choice.

Yes we can, and yes we did. =]

No time to update on TV shows right now - maybe in a week or two I'll remember to update :) and I'll let you know how my college apps are going and what TV shows I'm watching. I'm so glad 30 Rock is back - now my Thursday nights feel complete =].

Have a great week, everyone! :)

P.S. I know this is really late, but I haven't blogged since the layout change - it sucks! The site has been so much less active since the switch. I used to have forums and forums of new posts to read when I came on each day, but now it's pretty much deserted =/. Who's crazy idea was this, anyways?

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Level 31 / Reading / School / Other TV Stuff, Including Lost Comic-Con Video.

I just got to level 31, Blues Brother, a few days ago. Pretty cool :).

Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night TimeBooks: I just finished two books recently - the first one was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, by Mark Haddon. It is narrated by an autistic boy as he tries to find out who killed his neighbor's dog. I found it to be very interesting, and well-written. The author, according to the back cover, has done some work with autistic children, which definitely helped in writing the book. It was interesting to see events in the world through the eyes of an autistic child, and I highly recommend this book. It's also pretty short, so you can get through it in a few days.

Another book I finished recently that I would also recommend is The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold. It was a best-seller a few years back. It is narrated by a 14-year old girl who was murdered; she's now in heaven, and is watching how her death affects her family and friends. This book was very insightful, and despite the horrible nature of the murder at the beginning, ends on a high note, and is filled with hope :)

The Lovely Bones

I have to read three books for school - The Devil in the White City and a non-fiction book of my choice for AP English, and the whole school has to read I am the Messenger. I haven't started on any of them, hah . I've been too busy reading other things. I hate required reading for school - why can't I just read other books (of equal quality) that I actually want to read. I've actually already read DitWC, but it was a few years ago, so I'm a bit hazy on the details. If you're still in school, do you have any required reading?

School: Speaking of school, my first day of my senior year (:)) is in about two weeks (:(). I recently went into the school to get my schedule changed, and I love it! My school has weird scheduling - it's called a block schedule. We have four blocks a day, and we have A days and B days (which switch off every day) so we have eight different 'periods' in all. The blocks used to be an even hour and a half each, with ten minute passing periods, but last year for some reason my principal decided we needed more time spent in cl@$$. Our blocks are now 94 minutes, with 7 minute passing periods, and shorter lunches. Weird, right? =/

This year, I have seminar 1st block and 4th block seminar, both on B Days. Since I'll be able to drive to school this year (I finally got a parking pass! :D), I'm going to take first block off, so I get to come in late every other day =]. I'm definitely not a morning person, so this is great for me.

My first day is August 20th, a Wednesday - unfortunately, my sister goes back to college (but doesn't start school yet, she's just moving in) that same day, so my parents will be gone. Oh well.

TV: In TV news, I recently began the second season of Arrested Development. I loved the first season, and so far I'm really enjoying the second season as well. I'm also rewatching some of my favorite Office episodes =]. I can't wait for September 22nd - Heroes S3 premiere - and September 25th - The Office premiere :).

Arrested Development

Lost: I'm really excited about all of the Lost spoilers revealed at Comic-con this year (http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/07/ausiello-sums-up-lost-comic-con.html). I'm definitely glad Faraday is going to be back - as you can see by my icon, he's one of my favorite characters :).

Speaking of Faraday, I'm pretty sure he's the cameraman in the Dharma video seen at Comic-Con. If you haven't seen it, and you're a Lost fan, then you definitely need to:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dn_dNsaz-AA

My theory is that he's a time-traveler of some sort - that's why he can go visit Pierre Chang / Marvin Candle / Edgar Halliwax in the 70's, and that's why he needs Desmond to be his constant. I also think that this could contribute to the memory problems he seems to have (see the scene with Charlotte where he can only remember 2 out of the 3 cards). I also think that the baby crying in the video might be Miles - it's a bit of a stretch, but Miles does look a lot like Marvin Candle.

Faraday's Constant

It seems like forever until Lost comes back, but when it does, I'm sure the wait will be worth it =].

Have a great week! :)

1 Year TV.com Anniversary / Downtown

Today marks my one-year anniversary here on TV.com :) . I can't believe it's been a whole year since I joined here. I've definitely met a lot of nice people =].

I went downtown (Chicago, which is about an hour away from where I live) today with my mom and sister. We went to the Art Institute, which was pretty interesting. A lot of the exhibitions were down for renovations, which kind of sucked =/.

We met up with my dad for lunch, since he works downtown. He showed us part of where the Dark Knight was filmed, at the Board of Trade, which is just one block away from where he works. It was pretty cool. I might go see that in theaters, but probably not opening weekend - it will be too crowded. Then my mom, my sister and I went shopping, of course ;).

I just got two DVD's in the mail this week - Arrested Development season one and Lost season 3. I can't wait to rewatch Lost, especially my favorite episode, Through the Looking Glass. I've only seen a few episodes of AD, and they were pretty funny, so I thought I'd check out the whole season. I also just watched the first season of Flight of the Conchords - it's hilarious! Bret's my favorite character, and my favorite songs are The Humans are Dead, Part-Time Model, and Rhymenocerous vs. Hiphopapotamous (spelling? hah).

I'm currently reading Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It's a bit tough, but so far I really like it. I also checked out Little Women from the library, because it was suggested by SMGslayer and Hunter - thanks again you two :), and that's next on my list to read.

Have a great weekend! =]

Sorry about the spaces in between some of them, I don't know why that happened :?.

#43 (One Hundred Years of Solitude) is in bold and italicized because I started reading it, but never got to finish it. I hope to someday get back to it and finish! :). I'm also currently reading #67, Jude the Obscure. I like it so far =].

Looks like I haven't read many books on this list, but I plan to =]. Some of my favorite books are on here, though, like Pride and Prejudice, A Tale of Two Cities, The Time-Traveler's Wife, Alice in Wonderland, Atonement, To Kill A Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, and The Kite Runner. Choosing my top five shows was a bit tough - if Heroes has been on here, it would have been #5, but since it hadn't, I was debating between Family Guy and South Park. I finally decided on South Park because I generally watch it more often. Feel free to steal the survey if you would like, and have a great week! :P

Level 29

I just reached level 29 - Volgar the Enforcer. I have no idea what that's from =/. I also just made my 1000th accepted submission today, hooray :).

The Lost season finale last week was really good. I'm going to have to rewatch it soon to see all of the things I missed the first time around.

I have finals this week. Only four more days until I'm out of school :). I have physics tomorrow, math & English Wednesday, Psychology Thursday, and Spanish Friday. It kind of sucks because I only have one final each on Thursday and Friday, and they're both the earliest ones =/. At least I get to drive to school! :P.

I'm also looking for a job this summer - anyone know any good places for a 17 year-old with no work experience to work? =]

Have a great week! :)

Idol Finale / Office / GG

Idol finale results are tonight.... and I really hope David Cook wins. He's so much more original and interesting to listen to than Archuleta, who just sings a boring, cheesy ballad each week. I even have a few of DC"s songs on my Ipod, they're just that good =].

I voted for Cook a few times last night by texting, but I only got one confirmation message back (and not even on the first one I sent)... anyone know if that means they still got through?

I would also love to see DA's dad's face if Cook won... ;).

Who do you want to win? (if you watch the show).

In school news, I'm doing a presentation in Spanish class on... The Office! :). We could choose any topic we wanted. My powerpoint is pretty cool, and I have some video clips in it - I'm trying to get the faxes from the future cold open in there =].

The Office finale last week was amazing - I loved when Holly thought that Kevin was slow. Those parts were the best in the episode. I hated that JAM didn't get engaged, but they definitely will next season. And the ending was so surprising! I love Dwight and Angela. When I saw Jan was pregant, and she said it wasn't Michael's, I thought that Hunter was the father, hah =].

I didn't really like the Gossip Girl finale. I liked seeing Blair and Chuck together, but when he went with that other girl at the end, it was so dissapointing - it just felt like they were making a cliffhanger for the sake of having a cliffhanger in the finale. It took away some great character development for Chuck. What did you think of it?

Have a great week! :)

Level 28 / Dinner Party

I recently reached Level 28, Disco Stu. I really like this level name because I love The Simpsons :).

I enjoyed last week's episode of The Office, Dinner Party. I found it to be hilarious, but also a bit awkward; it was one of my favorites of the season. It surprised me a bit to see tv.com users rate it so low - It's rated as low as the Pilot episode! =/. It was also rated lower than Survivorman, which I found to be worse than Dinner Party. I guess it's one of those episodes that you either loved or you hated.

If you saw the episode, what did you think of it?

Lost and Gossip Girl come back next week :).

On American Idol last night, I really liked David Cook and Jason Castro, my two favorites. David Archuleta seems to be the favorite, but he always sings such boring ballads, and does nothing new with the songs. The judges still love him however, and he can seem to do no wrong in their eyes. I predict Kristy Lee, Carly, and either Syesha or Brooke (all the girls! :?) to be in the bottom three. Hopefully Syesha goes home, I never really liked her. I only want KL to stay because she's my pick in the American Idol pool here :P.

If you watch the show, who do think will go home / who do you want to go home?

Have a great week! :)

Trusted Contributor / 1000 Subs!

As mentioned in this blog title, I have recently become Trusted Contributor for the show The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. I don't really watch that show too often, but it's pretty good. I mostly clean up some blurbs that are repeated or have bad spelling/grammar. Thanks to the editor of that show, Dark_Eagle80, for choosing me to be a TC :).

I also just made my 1001th submission. =]

The Office and 30 Rock come back next week, which I'm very excited about. Over spring break two weeks ago, I watched the entire first season of 30 Rock - I forget how good that show is.

Have a great week! :)
