I was reading the review that totalgridlock posted for Final Fantasy X, just out of curiosity, cause I loved that game a whole lot too. And it got me thinking about the intro movies for each of the FF series games that I've played (FF VII - FF XII, Tactics).
The one that stands out to me the most was FF VIII. I loved that intro because it gave me chills every time I watched it.
I loved the whole operatic score playing over Squall's fight sequence in the beginning. That also seems to be the only time I remember seeing blood in a Final Fantasy game was during that intro.
So anyway, rated from most loved to least are the following.
FF VIII http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upcRj4e6vdI
FF X http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqJYXoC1OQc
FF XI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkOelgiF0L0
FF XII http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOqE9DxEsGM
FF VII http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdM7B8l8KUA
FF TACTICS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Im6eT9dQB8
FF IX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM_iHGWzqio
The other ones had a lot of nice qualities too. FF XI probably the longest but also quite cinematic. FFXII was probably the nicest looking one simply because of the current technology. But FFIX was horrible. Not that the game wasn't fun but the intro was so boring. That entire game had a really campy, fantasy-renaissance feel to it. And what's with those Chibi characters? Good Game - Bad Intro
Of course all of this is just my opinion so I'm curious to see if anyone agrees or not. Let me know what you think
