I also think that 3rd person is getting more popular. I belive people (including myself) enjoy watching their character in action, with all that beautiful outfits and moves they have.
Hell yeah! It was the best strategy game evar! I hate their research/marketing section or whoever decides whether the product worth investing money in it, but they are clearly making wrong decisions by not working on WarCraft4 :(
