doug20666 "Sequels? Xbox doesn't have any sequels on it(Halo 3 ,DOA4, Madden, NFS, Oblivion. )Nintendo also(Mario, Zelda, Metroid.) Sequels are a fact of life on any console. As long as they are decent that's fine with me. Don't get me wrong I do like original games" Sorry - I wasn't dissing the games themselves - I was just highlighting Sony's relatively cheap use of ongoing series to guarantee sales for new consoles off the back of loyal fans. I'm absolutely positive that all the sequels featured here will be top-drawer games. Sequels are indeed rooted in the game industry for many good reasons but the point I was trying to make is that the level of originality on display from all the other manufacturers is way out there compared to Sony - As far as XBox goes, we all know it would be foolish not to make Halo 3 or DOA4, but the key here is that most of the 360 sequels on offer are cross-platform blockbusters like Madden. Every year until gaming dies we'll see new versions of about 20 different sports titles and that's great, but I like to see more of a focus on producing new ideas. After all, you can't have a sequel until you have an outstanding initial game to continue on from, right?
That's a pretty strong showing for the PS3, even without Assassin's Creed on the list - incidentally, I'm gonna be so amused if that game actually does show up on 360 after all the Sony fanboys have been bragging about it since E3 - however I can't help but notice that almost all the games there seem to have a large number at the end of the name... I love FF & MSG games and have enjoyed the DMC series, but it would have been more impressive to see some more original titles on the list (Hopefully Gamespot will be covering a more diverse selection when the show kicks off, though). Fatal Inertia looks dreadful, but I don't usually enjoy racing games so I'll ignore that one, which leaves Resistance as the only solid looking original game on the list. Hmmm. Meanwhile, on the 360... tomp814 "Finally, a PS3 oriented Game Show ^^ go away, Xbox!" It baffles me that anyone can make that sort of comment at this point in time. PS3 isn't out for months yet, while the 360 is rapidly building a library of A-list games like Dead Rising, Saints Row and Enchanted Arms (putting paid to the frankly weak anti-Xbox argument that it will only have highly Americanised titles released). Gears Of War is so close they won't make a big deal of it for TGS, I reckon. So the 360 showing in Tokyo is full of new, second-wave games, many of which were too early in development to show at E3, but here now to replace some of the imminent games mentioned above. I really enjoy Japanese-style games (especially RPGs - I'm playing Star Ocean at the moment) and this list is a gift to 360 owners who share my taste. Not one, but two high profile RPGs, a giant robot shooter and a Devil May Cry challenger in Too Human - I make that pretty equal to the PS3 lineup (OK, except for Metal Gear which has no viable alternatives. At all. Ever.) I'm looking forward to seeing what hidden gems the show itself will throw up more now! Oh, and... Fraqueli: "Did anyone notice that Sonic the Hedgehog is the only multi-platform game on the list? This game is gonna rule!!" Pro Evo is also multi-platform by the way.
