Sniffbone

The other day I'm walking down a flight of stairs with my 3 year-old son Tyler and I notice he's not holding onto the rail/banister. So I say, "Tyler, please hold onto the rail." He gives me a smirk and replies, "It's not called a rail." Hmm. Maybe he learned the word 'banister' and he's trying to correct me for calling it a 'rail'. So I say, "What do you call it?" and he says back, "Uh... a sniffbone!" Yep, a sniffbone. We've been calling them sniffbones ever since. I checked Google and Wikipedia and neither one returns anything for 'sniffbone'. So it appears Tyler has made up a completely original word. And it sort of fits the object being described. I think that's pretty cool.
