The Music Apps

I'm now remembering why I don't use Last.fm or MOG. The concept is kind of cool. But only *kind of* cool. I already know what music I like. My tastes are fairly mainstream -- ya that's right, I'll admit it -- and I get enough personal recommendations from friends and co-workers to catch the stuff that wouldn't present itself to me through normal channels. But the real reason why I don't use those services is because I just don't like the client apps. I don't like the default Last.fm app because it's an actual OSX application with a full window and everything. I installed the unofficial iScrobbler app which was a little better but it added an icon to my menu bar which I'm not thrilled about either. Plus, it seemed to have issues connecting to the last.fm server. It submitted movies I played as well as music. Then there's the fact that I have yet another app running on my system taking up memory and occaisional CPU cycles and providing my with minimal value. The cost/benefit equation -- for me anyway -- worked out against Last.fm. So, it's gone from my system now. Ditto with MOG.
