Turok 360 Demo Reactions

wow...this game is getting FLAMED everywhere i turn.

Is it as good as we all hoped it would be? mmm well...maybe not. I felt as if the character movement in the game felt extremely sluggish. It doesnt move like Halo, or Call of Duty, those games move and feel right. Turok...ugh, i dunno, just...just sluggish. Aiming was also somewhat awkward. Only after fooling around with sensitivity settings forever and a day did it begin to somewhat feel right. Oh yea...and after one good hit from a raptor completely COVERS your screen in red so you cant see sh*t...now THATS annoying. That could have been turned way down. Neat effect, but COD4 already did it, and did more effeciently.

But i think its easily understood that the dinosaurs move fantasticly. The creepy suspensful atmosphere thats created in the first area of the demo was enough to convince me that the layout of the game had some serious planning. Hearing raptors feet clackin on the ground behind only to find out that noones there is enough to creep you out. Only until that same raptor jumps on your head 2 seconds later.

Rapid button pressing mini game to get raptors off you is a bit dated, and the game uses the Unreal Engine...come on, make those textures look more convincing.

Honestly i dont think ill be picking this up now, Im somewhat disappointed, but overall, not a terrible venture was made with the production of this game. But yea...i guess count me out...

Manhunt 2....

i dont know...maybe its just me. But does anyone else think this game looks like a huge piece of garbage? Im completely uninterested and i feel like the game is more of a gore attention grabber than an actual attempt at providing a new innovative gameplay experience for the user. Or....maybe i just dont feel like pulling out peoples vertebrae with plyers as theyre walking down a hallway... ill have to think that one over!

Bored...so im gonna write stuff.

God of war 2 is...ridiculously good. Ive been stuper stoked for this game. Ive been looking forward to it for some time...and considering the release lineup for all systems the next few months, this was something i totally wanted. I buy about 4 to 5 games a month usually, some for pleasure some for work. So to have sometime to concentrate on one game is fantatstic. And i think if one game deserves time its gow2.
I also just recently finished up Crackdown, which i was a huge fan of. Usually i lose interest somewhat quickly in games like GTA, perhaps their lack of structure and lack of "forcing" players to do something has me bored often times...but whatever the difference is, Crackdown had me hooked from start to finish. Now with rumors of new single player downloadable content ill have a reason to break it back out for a longer time to come. Putting it aside for gow2 was hard enough already...
One more game that deserves mention is definitly Hotel Dusk: Room 215 on DS.

Im a huge DS player and upon first seeing this game i knew i had to get my hands on it. After playing a few hours into it i was hooked. You get so wrapped up into the story you forget that your not button mashing and fighting off enemies or doing something other than reading. But anyone who thinks they might be turned off by the reading, just give the game a shot. Its not all reading and the story...the story will suck you in. I needed something to replace EBA, and this does that and then some.

I got this demo over the weekend finally, and i literally played through it like 5 times in a row. I could not put down the controller for the life of me. Has anyone else gotten this and have had the same reaction? Some of the forums are talkin some sh*t about it, so im curious. I totally dug this game. I cannot wait for release.

And yes...im a halo fan but seriously, im buyin this because crackdown is ridiculously good.

Hello Blog, long time no see...

Its been a few months now since ive written one of these things...seeing as my last post was about how i reserved a Wii. Which is somewhat odd considering alot of people still cant unfortunately get one. Nintendo needs to get on that and start spitting those things out like crazy.
Anywho, i dont know how i didnt get booted from the gamespot message boards as of recent from me posting ridiculous amounts of posts asking about HDTVs. Being in the market for one of these ridiculous things is a real headache. Lag? No lag? well which ones f*cking lag? Short of draggin my Wii down to best buy to hook it up, you gotta do some serious research. Well i did my research, or so i had thought. I picked up a 37" LG LCD HDTV. Shes beautiful. BUT, if your playing on ANYTHING in 480i, forget it, lag central. Its especially bad on the Wii. My 360 ran perfect in either 720p or 1080i, but my Wii and ps2 now had some serious issues. So after doing some research about this Lag epidemic, i came across the idea of basically just running EVERYTHING in 480p. So, overnighted me some Wii component cables and...that toatlly fixed the issue. I thought i was going to have to return my tv...and id of been ridiculously furious. And now, the ps2 components are on their way as well.
Speakin of now playing games in 720p-1080i, playing games like gears and dead rising are completely different.

Once you play them on a high res set, forget it you can never go back.
So ok thats good enough for my rant for now, hopfully my next update wont be 753059 months from now. And argh, i had about a million reviews i wanted to do. I gotta get my act together...damnit.

My Wii Reserve Survival Story

Why I even bothered reserving a Wii...mmm dunno. Supposedly theres gonna be 48503859425 on launch day but im too paranoid, i dont trust something with that many numbers in it. But on the other hand im lazy, so i figured ok...my gamestop opens at 10, i should show up like 4hrs early and ill totally get one. So...naturally i show up at 955. I park my car and realize theres a line that stretches down 3 stores. Nice!

I get on the end of the line basically to entertain myself knowing that im not getting anything, but i figure...i got up for this garbage i might as well stand here and chat with the local folk attempting to get a Wii for their kids.

5 or 10 mins go by, and surely enough the gamestop manager shows up, lets himself in and locks us all out. Mmm hospitality. He comes back out and finally tells us that they have 28 system reserves to give out. Ok, thats good news. They start handing out paper slips, all numbered...so i figure sweet, ill be 29. Then i can go home, cry and fall back asleep.

But i dunno, the big man smiled upon me and i snagged numero 21 out of 28. So we stand around like morons for a little while longer and i finally get inside. Now i had already had Zelda Wii on reserve so that was all taken care of. And as im leaving im informed about the midnight sale for peeps with reserve tickets. Needless to say, thats very cool.

So in turn, i did get a Wii reserved, now the only pain in the ass is waiting around for it. And for anyone reading this who didnt get a reserve...iiiiii wouldnt worry cause again, Reggi promised 58305984305983 available at launch so you should be safe. Gimme gimme gimme!!

F.E.A.R freaks my sh*t out

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

So with the upcoming expansion, F.E.A.R Extraction Point, I took it upon myself to break out the original F.E.A.R once again to reminisce of how scary a well designed game can be...and needless to say, this game creeps me out to no end. I’m sure some of you people who are taking time to read this are probably like "OMG what a toolshed, this guy was actually creeped out by this game." Yo I don’t care, this game had me twitching for weeks after playing it haha.

The thing about the game that is SO creepy is the atmosphere that is created by the amazing level designers and lighters that worked on this project. By not being able to see what is under a desk, or what’s around a shadowy corner had me asking myself do I like my life enough to want to go around the corner to see what’s there. Though the only down side to this game that I’ve found is that it relies heavily on the users flashlight. Though unlike doom3 where you needed it, and also where you couldn’t hold your weapon at the same time, FEAR does not force the user to use it. Also FEAR allows you to actually hold a weapon at the same time as your flashlight. Thank goodness too, cause if I see anything move, shadow or real, i shoot my ass off and it usually ends up being a keyboard or something I knocked off a desk. And that freakin lil girl...don’t even get me started on her...I’ve never been so scared of a preteen before in my life.

If you don’t have this game, or if you haven’t played it...do it, play it. Its ridiculously good, but if your a huge wuss like me have some tissues near by, cause it is scary as a motha f*cker.

My Wii Reactions...slightly delayed reactions.

Well needless to say, being the huge nintendo fanboy that I am...when i had originally heard of the nintendo press conference here in Manhatten i was stoked. Finally we were gonna get the info we were waiting for.
I know how alot of people are upset about the $250.00 price tag. Which is..understandable...and not understandable all at the same time. Me personally, im fine with it. Look at your other options...360? $400. haha or a PS3? Your first born or $600.00. So when doing the math there $250.00 for in my opinion the best system of the 3 doesnt bother me. Youve also got to figure that the Wii comes packed with Wii Sports which is reason one why its at $250. Not to mention your getting $60.00 worth of controller peripherals. Honestly big o' Reggie could have priced this thing at $400 and Id have no problem paying for it.
And now were looking at a tentative, 25 games at launch. And over 30 by years end. The figure of 25 games is reason alone for excitment. And I cant point my finger at one bad title in the lineup.
Im an employee in the video game industry so i was fortunate enough to visit LA this past May for E3 (the last and greatest btw). Where i was able to get my paws on the Wii. And I gotta say how well the controller handles movements and incorporates your every action into gameplay. I had the chance to play Metroid 3, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, and a few of the Wii Sports titles. All of which were an amazing experience to play. I feel as if noone will be let down by this system upon its final release this November 19th.
Which brings me to my next point...the release. Nintendo is deciding to release its new machine two days after Sony's problem riddled PS3. Now I see no problems with this, other than long lines at my local Gamestop. Its going to be interesting to compare final numbers of sales the two companies receive. Nintendo promising an average of 2 million consoles at launch with 4 million consoles ready by years end. PS3 is having 500,000 worldwide! on the 17th. YIKES. Not only will noone be able to afford that thing...but how are you going to find one? Talk about a scarce product.
From all the footage ive seen from editors from all sorts of different game sites and blogs, everyone has seemingly been very pleased with the turnout of the press event, and the games on display. I want Zelda oh so bad... . .
My games of choice to pick up as soon as their released are as said above, Zelda by far. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Gotta have that first day! Others that im dying to get ahold of would definitly be Red Steel (hopefully they'll work out those controller bugs)Image Hosted by ImageShack.us,
Metroid Prime 3Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
and Batallion Wars. Batallion Wars on the GC was too much fun to put down!Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

All in all im totally pumped for the release of this system, now all im waitin for is the freakin stores to start allowing reserves. Gamestop needs to hurry they asses up!
