So with the upcoming expansion, F.E.A.R Extraction Point, I took it upon myself to break out the original F.E.A.R once again to reminisce of how scary a well designed game can be...and needless to say, this game creeps me out to no end. I’m sure some of you people who are taking time to read this are probably like "OMG what a toolshed, this guy was actually creeped out by this game." Yo I don’t care, this game had me twitching for weeks after playing it haha.
The thing about the game that is SO creepy is the atmosphere that is created by the amazing level designers and lighters that worked on this project. By not being able to see what is under a desk, or what’s around a shadowy corner had me asking myself do I like my life enough to want to go around the corner to see what’s there. Though the only down side to this game that I’ve found is that it relies heavily on the users flashlight. Though unlike doom3 where you needed it, and also where you couldn’t hold your weapon at the same time, FEAR does not force the user to use it. Also FEAR allows you to actually hold a weapon at the same time as your flashlight. Thank goodness too, cause if I see anything move, shadow or real, i shoot my ass off and it usually ends up being a keyboard or something I knocked off a desk. And that freakin lil girl...don’t even get me started on her...I’ve never been so scared of a preteen before in my life.
If you don’t have this game, or if you haven’t played it...do it, play it. Its ridiculously good, but if your a huge wuss like me have some tissues near by, cause it is scary as a motha f*cker.
