Red Ring of Death for the win.

Well it was inivatable. I had some warning signs a few months ago when some disks had some problems being read. This last weekend I had it happen to me. I am going to get it replaced when I go back home during thanks giving. I just hop I can get it replaced before I go back to college so that I might be able to play Mass Effect. I got a 15 month warenty on the 360 in anticipation of the red ring happening. Overall I am not going to complain since I do live in a non airconditioned dorm. But I did do everything I could to try and prevent it. What ever. So for now I will not be able to play Halo 3 when it comesout but so what? I know I will be able to play it on other peoples systems since the 360 is so popular.

Revelation!

I have just had a revelation. I now know what I am going to do with my life! I mean I have found my purpose. I do not want to reveal it now. All I can say is I am going to try and revolutionize the way TV is seen in the world.

My gripes with WoW

One thing that sometimes aggravates me in classes is how not all of there talents are used. For example in WoW, (sorry, only real MMO I played) is how the Rogues abilities were not always used. I mean the fact is that Rogues can pick locks and I feel that this ability was underused. They made the rogue more of a DPS class rather than a stealthy class. I believe that some of his abilities would have greatly added to group play. Another example is the Hunter tracking ability, I mean the Hunter has all of these cool abilities that could have been used to further expand gameplay. (I only played a hunter, not a rogue though)

Another problem that I found in WoW is the lack of variety in the dungeons. The best example I can use is Scholomance. Now this is a dungeon that I found rather tedious after a while. I feel that if they randomized the position of the Mobs that would have added more to the playthrough and made the game a bit funner. And with the final boss if they added more of a dynamic to it, such as have him teleport to different areas of the dungeons, then then some of the other forbidden abilities might have come into play, (namely the search ability). another example of a tedious dungeon is Molten Core. I mean my main was a Druid. I was forced to be a healer and none of my other abilities were ever used, such as the Moonkin, (an Owlbear form that could only be obtained by investing a specific amount of points into a specific tech tree.) Not only that, for the most part the Mobs were all the same and it took so long to run and was soooo boring. It was not worth the effort. I mean yes it is cool the first few times I was playing but I mean it really got boring fast.

Another gripe I have in WoW is the PvP system. While the battleground were interesting the first few times I played them they got old relatively quickly. I have been told that the world PvP in WoW was actually not to bad during the first few months when a player was playing on a PvP server. However, the new Honor system caused some problems with the dishonor kills when attacking the towns and cities killing the citizens. I mean, but even afterwards there were some nice times when I was playing that I remember some great World PvP. I was in Duskwood, I was only around level 15 or 20 at the time. But there was this epic battle of high levels fighting each other. I mean I remember seeing all of these dead bodies and seeing this absolutely epic battle. The battleground changed the world PvP to instanced PvP which really took away from the world dynamic of the game.

Areas where WoW was very successful however are as follows. The world is one aspect that I found was one of the strongest points of the game. I remember the beautiful environments and the exploration of that magnificent world. The iconic scenery, that all blended so well together. I mean I guess that one reason why the design was so successful was the way they positioned the worlds. I mean in one area, you have a vast endless desert, then traveled through to another area where there were vast greenery and forestry, with water falls and a whole new set of creatures to kill. Then the gryphon flights were amazing. Being able to fly from above and see these great environments all meshed together. The starting areas were mind blowing as well. I mean the Nightelf starting area is absolutely contains the mood of the Nightelves, and each of the other starting areas contained the mood of every specific race. Another area where WoW was strong is its easy accessibility to many people. I mean it eases you into the world with the quests and such. It is easy to figure out what you need to do next, and there is always something for you to do, whether it is your profession or a quest or just helping another person in your guild. It compelled you to play more and was highly addictive. Also the dungeons are not all bad. They main issue is they lacked replay value. I mean I can tell you about one of my favorite instanced dungeons, the Deadmines. I mean they actually had voice acting in it which was really awesome. First off in order to get into it and start the many quests lines that you need to do in it, is first you need to find this one guy who is willing to tell you where you go to begin the Deadmines. Now there is this broken down town where surrounded by bandits. You must travel into this one building that eventually leads into a series of tunneled mines. Then as you work your way through, you eventually are lead deeper down into the minds and find yourself in this huge underground cave where a Pirate ship has been trapped under a mountain. I mean it was so well designed. Then there were also some memorable specific forbidden these two pieces of a pendent in order to obtain a specific animal form. Now the quest hinted at the locations of the pendants, and you had to go to completely different parts of the world to find them. Also this form was not exploited well enough in the game. I mean the aquatic form, (a seal type of animal form). I mean when in this form you can breathe underwater and swim at a faster speed.

Also one other gripe I have with WoW is the fact that practically everything about your character is about equipment. I mean it ends up in a vicious cycle where you get better equipment to take down harder challenges only to get more equipment. Not only that, some of the equipment looks horrible and is reused. Another problem with the equipment is that the look is not always designed for all races. Prime examples of this problem are with the Dwarves. I mean a Dwarven warrior may get this really nice helmet, only to find that it cuts off his beard, and if a player wants to use the helm and show the beard, they have to make the Helm invisible. Also all the high level people eventually get the same armor sets and look the same.

I know that WAR is not going to have as many of these issues, since its main focus is on the RvR aspect. I like this mainly because it will make the game much more dynamic and much more interesting. I mean the fact that a player will be able to customize the armor with emblems and such will make everybody look very different. Not only that, the way you character will change in physical appearance as he gets to a higher level. The constant tug of war between the two racial pairings makes the game more dynamic as well. I mean I am really looking forward to WAR since is resolves the tedious receptiveness that other games fail to resolve.

Sorry about the wall of text but I just wanted to state my opinions on some things.

Warhammer update

So as you all kow by now I am into the Warhammer Fantasy Table Top Game. I am painting the current set that I have. The Battle for skull pass set, which is may I say a really good set. However. I am not done yet. and for my birthday I decided to invest in more sets to oaint. I have not assembled the models mainly because they are a bit harder to fix up. But they do have more felxibility. Right now I am in the process of painting my miners. I mean I have been in the porcess of doing this for quite a hile now so you have to give me paiteince. Hopefully by this time next year I will be able to actually play a game with the miniatures I have painted. For now that is all.

A Day Never Forgotten

Today has been a horrible day for me. First off I was expecting a day off because it was going to snow, so I was up late the night before. However, because i live in a county that is very stubborn when it comes to school closings, I had school today. So I drudgingly pull myself out of bed at 5:50 this morning. i get myself ready for school and I go to my bus stop and wait, then get on the bus and go to school. My bus is always 20 minutes early to school so I usually sit down and wait outside of the class room. Then, as I go to sit down I hear a RIP! I then feel a cool breeze where my but is. I sigh. At least I had my jacket so I could tie it around my waist and have the rest of the jacket cover the hole. Then I go to Spanish class where I have a quiz on conjugating words in the past tense! ugh. So then I get through the class. Then at the beginning of my second class I hear Fairfax County will be closing 2 hours early today. So I was like YES, an early closing! Then in my Calculus class we review the past lessons we had only to have yet another quiz. I was surprized but I did well on it. But it is still a quiz that was not called for. Then for my third and final period I had English. I thought it was going to be an easy class only to find, I HAVE ANOTHER QUIZ!... So... I do the quiz. I answered the two essay questions on The Stranger, the most depressing book ever. I did well on the questions. But it was still another quiz. Then I get on the bus. I go home only to realize that I had forgotten the keys inside and my parents locked the door and there is no spare key anywhere. So I had to spend the afternoon at a friends house. To make things even more ironic today happens to be my 18th birthday! What a Birthday I have had today!

Super Bowl Commercials :(

I must say for the most part, this year CBS did not do a good job with the Super Bowl commercials. They did not do a good job entertaining me. It was filled with tons of self serving adds for there own station, and local adds. Not nearly enough adds that actually made me laugh. Granted there were a few but not enough good ones that I hadn't already seen. But I must say Coke did a good job with there commercials, even though I had already seen them in movie theaters. Over all I found the adds to do a poor job.

Warhammer: Battle for Skull Pass

So here is the thing. I just wanted to speak my mind on this. It is not really related to any computer game but it is still technechly a game. So let me tell you my progress on the Battle for Skull Pass. I am still in the process of painting all of the units. So far I have gotten a squadren of Dwarfs and a squadren of Goblins. I have also painted the supply tent and the captured slayer. But Sometimes I get board of painting miniatures and I want to make set pieces in which case I make terrain such as hills and such. Hills are really cool to make since it requires making something from scratch. Having the right materials really helps. So far I have made a lower based hill and a high based hill. I was also trying to make the shield on the goblin tent look more worn and rusted. I know you may think this is the most pointless blog ever but I just wanted to let someone know out there what exactly I am doing currently.
