I agree that truly great games that take years to develop are worth the price. The problem is that there are too many mediocre to bad games that are released at the same price that are not worth the money in terms of story development, gameplay or playing time and that diminishes the value of all games from the consumer's perspective.

Wow dude, wow. First off, I'm Canadian and am utterly shocked at those prices. I have never seen prices even remotely close to what your local retailer charges. I have friends in the States and they pay almost the exact same prices I pay where I live in Canada. Perhaps start supporting a REAL video game store; i.e. Gamestop.

Meh, I'm still on the fence about this game. I've played every Elder Scrolls game from Arena to Skyrim (including Battlespire and Redguard), and I love the series. I'm just not certain that TES can make the jump to MMORPG. First and foremost Bethesda Game Studios isn't even making it, so right there you know the creative minds behind the series aren't going to be working on TES:O. Who knows, maybe it'll be good, but I don't have high hopes for it.
I have played multiple games this kid wants to play and they've all been shitty games, literally every time. I always mention something actually good and he just dismisses it, because he only wants to play what he wants to play. Today I mentioned a co-op survival horror game called "cry of fear" free on steam right now. His response is this.

That walking dead game was **** awful and everyone said it was on here as well. I just don't get idiots like this. Does anyone else run into these morons on the reg. It really makes me rethink friendship when someone just wants to live in their own world of shit and never open their eyes.

At the end of the day I don't take issue with anyone having preferences or a lack there of. As a PC gamer I constantly hear people sputtering nonsense about PC gaming dying, yet frankly I could care less. As long as I'm happy playing the games I like, on the platform I like, then do I really have any right to judge a person on what they enjoy? Some things just don't appeal to people. Take me for instance, I have zero interest in racing games. I'm aware they exist, I know people love them, I see the great ratings they get, however I still will not play them. Does that mean I'm closed minded? Perhaps. Does that mean I know what I like? Absolutely.
It makes total sense. I had the same issue with Kingdoms of Amalur. It's a great game, however the combat became tedious as the game progressed. Whereas games like Skyrim, or Fallout give you substantial additional content besides simply combat.
