I got a DSi XL - quite an improvement over my first gen DS

I have been looking at a number of different websites (mainly for Pkmn Platinum), and I was amazed at the number of hacks that people use to obtains hard to get items/characters, or to modify and change the game. I myself have only hacked twice (Pkmn Diamond) and that was to get Darkrai and Shaymin, two guys I couldn't get any other way. But seriously, why do people have to modify their games? It takes away from the overall feel, and modifies the way the game plays. Frankly, I think it is appalling.
