Coming back to a nostalgic game...

Animal Crossing...

That's right, that is what I've been playing for the past week or so. And I have to say, it kinda feels good to play again. Brings back memories of running around doing jobs, catching fish, digging up crap, and trying to pay off an impossible debt for my house. Doing this stuff again feels great, although I think I might get hooked on the game like I did years ago...

Animal Crossing

I have to say, I did miss the game. While I dug through a bunch of old GameCube games, Animal Crossing resurfaced, bearing an aura of nostalgia (big words...). Honestly though, with all this talk of Animal Crossing, I've only ever played the GameCube version. Haven't ever gotten to the DS or Wii versions, so I'll have to check those out since I'm addicted to the original. Anyways, I'll leave this on a good note: Animal Crossing is fun. 'Nuff said.

Music For Assassin's...

Yeah, so lately I've been listening to Assassin's Creed II soundtracks and I just had to say that if listening to the music doesn't make you wanna play the game, then I don't know what will. Honestly I got hooked on to it by my friend who suggested that I listen to some of it. This may sound weird, but there is no other soundtrack I can work better to than this. Mostly because it is relaxing and keeps me focused. So far my most favorite songs are 'Ezio's Family' and 'Dreams of Venice'. If you haven't heard these before, I suggest you give it a try!

Cladun: This is an RPG

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty excited for the game "Cladun: This is an RPG" to come out.

Cladun: This is an RPG!

I mean, first off, I'm a big RPG fan. I can't get enough of them. Secondly, Cladun seems to be a breath of fresh air with all these FPS and action games buzzing around. The pixelated look is a nice way to bring us back to our roots of video game graphics. Basically, it's different. And that's why we should also love it.

But one of the things that really reels me in is the fact that you can create your hero into anything you want. That is one of my big things with RPG's: CUSTOMIZATION! I love developing a character, changing their features, and so forth. It enhances the experience of playing your hero through out a game and makes it a fun one.

CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION??? YES!

Anyways, I won't rant on any longer. Everyone keep an eye out for "Cladun: This is an RPG" on September 21st!

Wrappin' Up Summertime

What a summer.

Spent a week in Arizona mountain biking, 4 days in Vegas, went up to Lake Tahoe to see family, hung out with friends. Alas, summer (sadly) doesn't last forever, and it's only a matter of time before school and other activities move in. I just spent the past 2 weeks in my school's marching band camp, so summer has kind of wrapped up a little early for me.

Anyways, now that I'm not out and about anymore, i hope to get some more blogging in and be a little more active on the site. Hopefully this means you'll see more material from me!

Game Review: Mass Effect 2

(Here is the review I wrote on Mass Effect 2)

*WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

My Input
Mass. Effect. 2. Probably the greatest game I have ever played. The game-play is fantastic, graphics are awesome, and the story is superb. Mass Effect 2 is an exhilarating space epic that puts you in the shoes of Commander Shepard two years after the Normandy was attacked and destroyed, taking Shepard with it. His body was recovered by Cerberus and is literally rebuilt. Now back on his feet, Commander Shepard must put together a new team, stop the collectors, and stop the reapers.

I honestly had so much fun playing this game. Not once did I ever tire of it, and was always anticipating what would happen next. Bioware has outdone themselves in Mass Effect 2, making it a masterpiece among video games. I liked how there's some humor put into the game, making it all the more enjoyable. Mass Effect really knows how to take the old cliche of good vs bad and turn it into something exciting and awesome.

Pros and Cons
Pros
1. Storyline: The storyline of Mass Effect is one of the best I have seen in a video game.
2. Upgrades/Modifications: With the new upgrades, I found things to be much more organized, making things a little easier instead of carrying around 12 suits of armor. It was also good that it lets you upgrade your weapons.
3. Weapons/Creating Weapons: Same thing applies to the weapons, it was more organized. You weren't finding 20 of the same gun all the time. On top of this, you were able to create some of your own guns, which was cool.
4. New Partners: The new partners of ME2 are all unique and have interesting back stories.
5. Cameos: It's cool that they brought back some of the old characters from ME1. And hey, it's always nice to see Anderson and Wrex again! :D

Cons
1. Exploration: Discovering planets and exploring them isn't what it use to be in ME1. It's more confined when exploring planets.
2. Mineral Searching: This was probably the most tedious thing in the game.
3. Game Length: I know this was an issue to some. Basically, if you stick to the main storyline and don't do any side missions, the game can be pretty short.

My Ratings
I'm just going to say that everything was 9-10, just to save us from what we already know. :)

Final Input
Again, Mass Effect 2 is just amazing. Don't let the cons scare you from playing it, though. Exploration and mineral searching aren't terrible, and when you start playing ME2, you won't want it to end quickly! So if you don't own the game already, what are you waiting for? Go buy it!

Alien Swarm

Steam realeased a new survival game today called Alien Swarm, and can resemble Left 4 Dead's survival element, besides the fact that it's third person view and involves aliens rather zombies... O.o

Alien Swarm logo

Anyways, I've been playing the game and it's pretty fun and entertaining. It is strongly teamwork based (aren't all survior games?), with 4 different specialties to choose from (medic, tech, special weapons, and officer). Medic, of course, heals, tech does the computer stuff and is the essential person, special weapons is all out guns and damage, and the officer is sorta like the soldier of the group. On top of all that, you have upgradable weapons and armor. In each level, the tech is the one your gonna have to keep an eye on in all the levels. He is needed to complete each level. If he dies, it's game over for the entire group.

Alien Swarm

I've only been playing this game for a couple hours, but I can tell you that it's a really fun game to play with your friends or with people in general. AND the best part is that it's FREE. That's right, FREE. No more, no less. The game will probably get frustrating at some parts, so that's when the teamwork element comes inSo gather some friends and start playing. Just remember not to shoot each other and not to die a lot. Happy hunting!;)

Good or Bad Looks?: Skyward Sword

Alright, so I know we are all aware of Skyward Sword, which is said to be scheduled to release sometime in early 2011. Do you guys have high expectations for this game? Or maybe you think that it won't be the sharpest knife in the bunch? I personally am setting high hopes for it, mostly because it looks AWESOME.

So there are definitely some differences in Skyward Sword when compared to previous Zelda games, but I'm gonna mostly cover one of the obvious things: the look, mainly because we have been supplied with many screen shots of Skyward Sword. We all can easily tell that the look of this game is drastically different looking than Twilight Princess. In Twilight Princess, every thing was somewhat dark, kinda set in a darker tone. In Skyward Sword, everything is much more vibrant, with a much more lighter tone (or at least from what we can take from the screen shots so far).

Link in Skyward Sword*Links Appearance in Skyward Sword*

Another thing to point out is Link's appearance. TP Link has a more darker tone, while in contrast SS Link is definitely in a lighter tone and maybe a little more cartoon-looking in some ways. I'm pretty sure it's obvious to spot out the rest of the differences between the two with the pics, so I won't go in depth on what else makes them different.

Well, anyways that's all I have to say about Skyward Sword for now. Different from Twilight Princess, but none the less looks like a fun environment to play in.

Until next time,

My Blogging Plans

Ok, so I'm obviously quite new to blogging. I've never tried blogging before, so expect my stuff to be pretty mediocre at first...

HOWEVER! I thought it would be a fun thing to do with the things I wanna talk about, such as things like movies, games, and just things in general. I might even try to review some games, although keep in mind that I'm no game critic or expert, so what you hear from me are the words of a normal guy.

As it stands right now, I don't necessarily have a blogging schedule, pretty much because a lot of people don't know of my or my blog's existence. Hopefully this will change over time, and I might be able to start blogging at a study pace rather than occasional posts (which right now, my posts will be very occasional). They're also probably gonna be pretty short at first, but once I get the hang of it they should be a little more fuller (remember, I'm no writer, lol). Other than that, I hope to get a lot of readers and have fun with this. :)

My blogs are most likely gonna be pretty standard, but over time I hope to find new things to spice it up. :P

Anyways, these are the things you can find/expect from my blogs right now:

 1. Talk about entertainment, such as games and movies
 2. occasional game reviews
 3. My thoughts & comments about what is going on in the outside world
 4. and much, much more

Anyways, those are my plans right now, and that's all I got to say.

Thanks,

Mongreen
