Great purchases all over the place! It's been a long time since I checked the board and find that you guys have been very actively hunting good games.

I just bought the following:

Wii U Deluxe (with Nintendo Land)

New Super Mario Bros U

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 (Wii U)

Sonic & All-stars Racing Transformed (Wii U)

I'm really enjoying the Wii U and its features and the gamepad. I recomend it to anyone who's on the fence on buying it or not.

I noticed that we don't have a section for Wii U friends, so I wanted to suggest doing one on this thread.

My Nintendo ID is Morrino (just like my user name here) If anyone wants to add me feel free to do so and we can play online or just share tings on Miiverse.

Hi everyone!

I'm gonna be in Miami and New York in about a month's time. So I wanted to buy a GBA Micro Anniversary Edition but needed some guidance as to what a reasonable price would be for one in good condition with the charger (no box or manuals requiered although they are more than welcome should it not change the price that much) and where to look for it besides ebay.

Thanks for the help!

Well I bought more stuff in the least time than I have ever before. I went to Europe to visit my girlfriend and to see if I could get my EU citizenship to go do my master degree over there and I managed to get my hands on some good stuff :D

Here is the description:

Nintendo DSi XL Burgundy Ne179

Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (DS) New $12

Chronos Twin (DS) Used (Like New) $12

Hoshigami (DS) New $12

Final Fantasy 3 (DS) Used Mint Complete $15

Pokemon Diamond (in spanish) New Free with the DSi XL

Big Ben Case and other goodies such as extra stylus (big and small), game cases, wrist strap, etc. $15

Tales of Phantasia (GBA) Used Complete (Box a bit roughed up) $10

Odin Sphere (PS2) New $13

Fallout 3 Collector's Edition (X360) New $26

Halo 3 (X360) New $7,50

Lost Planet (X360) New $7,50

Breath of Fire 3 (PSP) New $12

And then for I got these XBOX games for $52 (all used but complete and mint condition)

Batman Begins

Conan

Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball

Fable

Fahrenheit

Halo

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance

X-Men Legends 2 Rise of Apocalypse

Also much to my surprise I got a PSX (the fat one), with a dual shock, all the cables, 2 working memory cards and inside the 2nd disk for Necronomicon The Dawning of Darkness. All for $5

And then I bought 2 gaming magazines while I was in Barcelona and I got 2 cases, one for a DS Lite and another for my PSP (which needed one). I also used up 2 euros on one of those machines where you put a coin turn the handle and get a prize and I got a Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story themed stylus with it (very nice looking by the way).

So I have to lay low for a while now after getting so much stuff in so little time (to my normal standards), but to be honest if it weren't for being scared that I would get caught in the airport customs I would have gotten more stuff cause where I live things are pricy and lots of games don't even exist here, really blows but well I have to go live in USA or Europe for a while and make my collection grow :D

Hi everyone! I wanted to ask the Sega experts a question. Here in Argentina I found a guy that is selling a Sega CDX and as far as I know it's a pretty rare piece of equipment and I was looking into buying a Genesis and a Sega CD and this brings both in one.

So my question is this, is it worth it? I know that even though it's possible to use with the 32X it's not advised to do so but the 32X has almost no games of my interest in the short run. How much is it worth it with all the cables, one joystick and 2 CD games (no box or manual)?

Thanks a lot and I'm working on getting photos on my new stuff that I got recently. :D

Right, here goes.  I wasn't going to go to today's carboot, they don't usually hold them on Saturdays (usually it's just Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays) and I was thinking of going shopping instead.  Bloody glad I didn't!

Today's haul kicks off with a few odd games:

The Chessmaster (SNES) - complete apart from the cardboard insert, very good condition, £1

Galaga (Famicom) - cart only, 50p

3x Famicom pirate carts with 4 games apiece - cart only, 50p each

I'm 90% sure the Galaga cart is legit, the multi carts are definately pirates but interesting to find on these shores regardless.

The following stuff was all from the same stall, hiding behind a boxed Millennium Falcon (which I resisted)...

Finally I got a nice-condition Mega Drive!  These are common as muck over here, but they tend to be well-used and abused and rarely show up in acceptable condition, let alone boxed with all the gubbins.  I was holding out for a Mark I system too, they just seem so much more old school.  Anyway, this boxed example has the system, two 3-button controllers, manual, Sonic cart and manual and the plastic inserts.

I got a few games thrown in too,

Desert Strike (MD) - complete in very good condition

Micro Machines (MD) - complete in very good condition

Mortal Kombat (MD) - boxed but missing manual, fair condition

Pit Fighter (SMS) - complete, very good condition

Shadow of the Beast (SMS) - complete, very good condition

I have no idea why there were SMS games with this lot, the guy didn't have an SMS for sale (believe me, I looked) and there was no sign of a Master System converter.  Oh well, looks like I'll have to grab one of those off eBay.

I also picked up this beauty:

These are pretty rare finds over here, sure they pop up on eBay fairly often but I've never, ever seen one in the wild, let alone boxed and complete.  I managed to keep my cool when I saw it though.  I've never really been too bothered about getting any of the Atari consoles and don't really know too much about them, but I suppose no retro collection is complete without a VCS, eh?  This has the woody console, two joysticks, two paddles, a keypad thingy, all the cables and even the cardboard inserts.  No pack-in cartridge though.

I also got some 2600 games to go with it.  The carts are mostly in good condition but the boxes are in rough shape - which is surprising considering the system looks well looked after.  The games are:

Centipede - cart and book, good condition

Desert Falcon - complete, tatty box

Dig Dug - boxed, tatty box

     Galaxian - boxed, tatty box

Midnight Magic - boxed, tatty box

Moon Patrol - complete, fair condition

Pole Position - cart and book, good condition

     Q*Bert - boxed, tatty box

Realsports Boxing - boxed, tatty box

Realsports Tennis - cart and book, good condition

Space Invaders - cart only, fair condition

Star Raiders - cart only, fair condition

Tennis: International Version - cart only, poor condition

The whole lot, Mega Drive and Atari plus all the games, cost me £25 (haggled down from £20 for the Atari and £12 for the Mega Drive).  Not bad, eh?

Now, the kicker.  I can't get the bloody Atari working.  At first I couldn't figure out whether it was the console, the power supply, the RF lead, the cartridges, my TV or just me being stupid.  Now I think it's a case of a dead power supply: I tested it with a multi meter and it didn't seem like there was any juice coming out of it at all.  I just hope that's all it is and as soon as I get my hands on a replacement 9V adaptor I'll be cookin'...

totalgridlock

That's wicked awesome Totalgridlock! Good going I hope you enjoy that Genesis and Atari and hopefully you'll get it to work. I love me some retro :P it sucks that flea markets and carboots here in Buenos Aires seldom have gaming stuff, I definitly need to go to England and USA soon and spend a life time savings there :D

I've read that before a while back.  I'm still a little bemused by the guy's non-answers.  Privacy is one thing, but what's the point in acquiring all that stuff if you're just going to hole up with it and not give anyone even the smallest insight into what is probably one of the best video game collections in the world?

To each their own, I guess.  But if that was me, I'd be waxing poetic about all the cool and interesting stuff I had.

You know, we should start up those CCU member interviews again.  I loved reading those...

totalgridlock

I totally agree, if I were him I would have given at least an insight on it no doubt about it, it makes me really curious about the whole thing and then we he is asked about it he just limits himself to "answer" the questions, but then again he is in his right to do so and we have to respect him for it.

Totalgridlock I'll be expecting your poetic testament on your evergrowing collection in no time then :P

As for the CCU member interviews that was what mainly got me interested in the union in the first place as it was awesome to get a idea of my fellow collectors insights on their collection.

Hi everyone! A friend of mine has offered to sell me his copy of Terranigma for about 30 dollars, it is just the cart, no manual, nor box. Do you think it is reasonable? Cause I've seen the prices on Ebay and they are around 80 dollars or so.

I just wanted to thank everyone here for all your help, I couldn't answer before cause I didn't have fully functional internet at my place, but now I'm back online.

I ended up going to a friend of mine's and exchanging my memory card for one of the old sony ones and it worked properly both the old one on my slim ps2 and the new one on my friend's fat psx.
