Good point, I do think more games need to punish for deaths more, though they wouldn't do nearly as well with mainstream gamers, and probably wouldn't be the ones to sell millions.
I'm hoping somebody comes up with a better way of making games more challenging, and punishing death, yet keeping it from being tedious and make people give up on the game completely after so many failures.
Definitely Linear games having limited lives could benefit from it and it might increase playtime and probably replay value. I'm hoping for an innovative way to penalize deaths without making the game frustrating.
I always liked the GTA credits, just showing clips of the living virtual city as it goes on. It's kindof neat being able to see the city just live on its own without your interference or input.
