@Celiria_Rose @NTM23 Right on the money there. Ken said he has trouble understanding the feeling, but he can't be faulted for doing his research, hell he took this situation right here and turned it into a learning moment. He admits making a mistake with his writing (lack of experience) and instead of lashing out or going into a state of denial he learns from it. THAT is something brilliant.

@emperiox@Celiria_Rose Bigot (noun) - apersonwhoisintolerantofanyideasotherthanhisorherown,esponreligion,politics,orrace.

Firing someone because they respectfully express a differing opinion from your own IS being a bigot. If he was throwing a "Temper tantrum" like you say, being hostile and disruptive then I would agree with you. The man simply stated his reasons for offense, and respectfully attempted to resign, that's VERY different. Maybe you misread the situation, I will give you that much benefit of the doubt. But if you didn't then you are the textbook definition of a bigot.

@emperiox @Celiria_Rose We all have a right to our beliefs and to stand up for them. He didn't say that the guy came into his office throwing a tantrum, he simply said I don't want to be a part of this, good day. Seems to me a perfectly respectable way to handle the situation, and Kudos to Ken Levine for taking this as a learning opportunity to better flesh out a character that he was admittedly writing practically blind.

@Plasmid_king To be fair, you don't know EVERYTHING he did, he was probably quite busy. I wouldn't mind a whole new story with him though, right after he escaped and before the events of Shadow Moses.

This is honestly, pathetic. Actually it's sickening, people die and politicians and news reporters all sit around and say "How can I abuse the deaths of these kids to get rating/push my pet causes" The real culprit here isn't Violent Video Games, nor is it gun control (almost more absurd considering in the last 10 years only 1 shooting over 3 people has occurred outside of a gun free zone).

What the real problem is is well... Sensationalist Media, who spends zero time remember the dead and honoring them and 100% of the time telling you who this (to me) Nameless, Faceless, shooter who, without the media turning it into a game of who can be remembered for killing the most children, would otherwise have just been a sad case of someone Committing suicide alone in his basement.

Games have gotten more violent in some cases, sure, which should negate your argument wholeheartedly, by your reasoning mass shootings should have gone up in the last ten years, but that is simply not the case, and to double down on that, America doesn't actually have as many or as violent Mass Shootings as say, Germany, statistically.

Before Video Games do you know what Killers did? They read violent, they abused animals, watched violent television, abused their siblings. Sure, shooters may play violent video games before a shooting, but then, so do most young people stable people, are they just playing it because that's just what people their age do? Not just because they are insane? And if they do play it for other reasons, is it because they are looking for an outpouring for violence that they would have found regardless?

Awesome... That is the only word to describe how that would be. I would just love it if this were to happen.

this may be hard for those of you who don't own buisnesses to understand but Gamestop (much as I dislike the store) did nothing wrong here. Ultimately Square Enix (who I love) is the one who is at fault. In no other buisness is it ever okay to send a product for sale to a retailer with advertisments for a direct competitor within the product itself. "Selling customers gutted boxed copies of PC games for full price is both deceptive and disrespectful." That is a rediculous statement. The game is in no way shape or form "gutted" the box is resealed and the only part that is touched is the coupon. You want to call anyone dceptive and disrespectful? That would be Square Enix in this particular case. I know I will get lots of thumbsdown for this, but ask yourself, if this was not gamestop and this wasn't the gaming retailer buisness and the same situation happened who would you find at fault? Gamestop may not have done the best thing, but can you blame them for not wanting to tell their customers "Sorry your Pre-order is not going to be available because Square Enix is being unscrupulous."

It ceases to be a matter of science when there are there are those who claim that there is no other side to the debate, and those who question are deemed stupid or otherwise demonized. Science by definition involves questioning and refutation, anyone who says the debate is over has no right to invoke the name of science in their arguments.
