Try deleting your cache. The GOTY edition may load slightly slower at first but should run better during gameplay. KC_Hokie
I actually did that too. =(

Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition

All Xbox Live updates downloaded

I reached level 55 in Conjuration and now every conjuration spell I cast freezes my game. I tried a different Conjuration spell with the same result. I downloaded all the updates, no change. I tried going up a few levels with a trainer but when I casted a Conjuration spell, CRASH! Then I tried it on my old character and it didn't freeze. I'm confused. Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it? Is this going to happen with the other magic skills (Destruction, Illusion, etc.) when I get them to level 55?

EDIT: Problem solved. It's exceedingly strange. Once I leveled up again my Conjuration spells suddenly began working again. Thanks for your time. =)

[QUOTE="MrdeBlaque"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]The GOTY edition is the most up to date and wouldn't need an update.sensfanVone

Why would it ask me if I wanted to download the update if I don't need it?

But you do need it in order to stay online while playing, you can refuse and it signs you out of Xbox live, however if you don't care to be on Xbox live you can refuse and just play the unpatched version.

No, I put the disc in while not signed into Xbox Live and it asked me to install the update. It would seem the update is on the SI disc itself.

[QUOTE="chaoscougar1"][QUOTE="MrdeBlaque"]I bought the Game of The Year edition of Oblivion recently and I've been playing on the Oblivion disc. I use the glitches quite a bit (mainly the arrow duplication, permanent effects, and Kavatch money glitches). I'm about to start Shivering Isles but I heard there's the huge bug that causes the game to crash after a certain period of time. I could download the update and patch from Xbox Live when I put in the SI disc but will that also update Oblivion and remove the glitches from that as well? Can someone who has updated for Shivering Isles tell me if they can still use these glitches?seankane

why even glitch? it really removes any sort of challenge from the game and thus makes it boring and pointless

Why even respond with such arrogant nonsense? Not everybody will feel the same as you do about 'glitches' or 'cheat codes' or whatever. For some, those are fun. The only time it should be frowned upon is when there's a competitive multiplayer aspect to a game that is directly affected by this 'cheating'. Other than that, people should be allowed to play how they want. Its their game and if nobody else is bothered, then who the hell cares?

Geez.

THANK YOU!!

As far as I know you can delete all the updates you download for a game, so why not give it a try?

_TheJoker_
If I remember correctly one can't delete the downloads for one game without deleting the updates one has downloaded for every game other game. If this is indeed the case and then I would have to spend hours re-downloading the updates for each individual game in the event that the SI update removed the Oblivion glitches. So you can understand my hesitation.

[QUOTE="MrdeBlaque"]I already knew that. My question is if I put the Shivering Isles disc in and download the update from Xbox Live to stop the Shivering Isles bug, will the that update also remove the glitches from Oblivion?KC_Hokie
I don't understand the question. If you have the GOTY edition already nothing should update when signed on since it's the latest version.

One would think that would be the case but when I put the Oblivion disc in it still asks me if I want to download the update.
