This blog is all about the crapptasticular Power Joy! (cue epic intro music)
About a year back I picked up this thing called a Power Joy. I had no idea what it was, but it looked like a N64 controller with a cartridge slot in the back, a/v cables coming out the bottom of the handle, and a controller port in the bottom of the handle. What a strange piece of machinery. It was after I got home that I realized that the thing took batteries too!
After a few hours of digging I found the exact model Power Joy I had online. As it would turn out, I had just purchased a Famiclone. Luckily for me, it has 10 games built right in! They are; Shoot Copter, Falling Bricks, Shoot Copters, Panzer Fly Car, Debar Bomb 1, Shooting, Debar Bomb 2, Future Tank, Space War, and Shoot Glass. What a list! After playing Shoot Copter I decided that I had wasted my money and my time. All it is is a crappy Duck Hunt rip off. It isn't even very good. Strangely enough though, the controller has a light gun on the end of it, although it isn't very good. Oh who am I kidding, it's ****ing terrible! It never shoots where you want it to, and it only shoots when it feels like it.
I didn't play any of the other games, but I did play my newly acquired copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 with it. After slapping four AAA batteries in the thing I was ready to play. To my surprise the thing started the game right up without any problems. Score one for the Power Joy. The only problem I could find was that the controller is terrible. It is very unresponsive, but when you get it to respond, it doesn't want to stop. Go figure. I can't tell you how many times I over shot my destination. One cool thing though is that you can play with either the d-pad or the joystick.
As for the second controller, I didn't plug it in. I'm not sure if it works or not, and quite honestly, I don't care. This thing is a piece of garbage, and the only reason why I'll ever bring it out again is to review the built in games in the future. I would suggest never buying one of these, as it is a complete waste of money.
