I'd recommend using a greatsword for your starting weapon. It does a lot of damage and can also block. Make sure you don't run with it out, always sheath it after your attacks. So attack, then roll, then sheath and repeat. Also a good way to do a lot of damage is with its charge. Dodge a monsters attack and start charging behind it and swing when it's head turns toward you (not for all but most). A monster like the kut-ku would be a great practice monster that you can fight in the training hall. Also when I first started, I had trouble killing genprey because I would always miss when they jumped backwards. If you are having trouble with them wait for the jump back then attack. But that's a good starting strategy for greatswords. Dodge attack, punish, and repeat. If you have a ps3 you can download adhoc party and play with me some time.
I agree but Gods Eater seems a lot less complex than monster hunter. Only three weapons but i guess a bunch of bullets to choose from. I'd say it has a better story than Monster Hunter.
Yeah sorry it doesn't have an english setting. However with custom firmware you can make most things english like armor and weapon names and npc text and missions. If you don't want to download custom firmware you can always just look up guides or just figure it out. I bought mine from play-asia.com and just figured most things out except armor skills.
