Most review sites grade according to a "Popularity = Quality" scale, especially western review sites.

That's why you read well-made user reviews, not professional reviews when considering a game.

Pretty much, you know it's bad when that abomination of a game Dragon Age 2 gets the same score as The Witcher 2.

Sounds like his first gen of gaming was the current gen. Most people who bought the Wii on release were expecting actual games utilizing the motion control, not some shovel-ware sports games every week.

There is no such thing as "hardcore gaming" and if there was it would have nothing to do with consoles, since most games released on consoles are being casualised so much.

Kingdom Hearts 2, that game just turned into a giant mess. They pretty much shoehorned everything in, plus every single non-Disney character interaction was like reading some bad fanfiction from a Twilight fan.

If Nintendo wants to impress me and get it's stocks back (since it's pretty much a joke right now) they need to release some actual good games that aren't rehashes of classics that it's new audience (12 year olds) haven't played. They need to do a hardware revision and actually put two analog sticks on their next release (that analog peripheral for Monster Hunter is a joke)

PSVita is leagues ahead of the 3DS in terms of the hardware, apart from the useless 3D gimmick that gets turned off within the first hour of playing anyway. Many of the games that are in the line-up for being released on the Vita are new titles, they also have a lot of good developers for it.

As much as I wish success to Nintendo, it just hasn't got the same appeal as the DS did, they're losing the audience for that now and are trying to appeal to the core crowd once again, since they are desperate.

Best game of this generation? Well you can mark anything that wasn't released on the PC off the list.
