Bored at my desk again

Alright. So here I am, stuck at my desk with no loans to build are people to call. As I was skimming the info-sphere that is gamespot, I realized gamers of this generation (2000 and on) are at a severe disadvantage. I started playing video games when I was 5 so I've been playing game now for 15 years. Honestly the first 10 years were amazing. I watched the rise of Street fighter in the arcades and the evolution of final fantasy. In my honest opinion there have not been as many earth shattering games for the new generation to look back on as I have games to look back on in my youth. Sure the graphics are better but the gameplay and story have slowly been ppushed into a downward spiral. Dont get me wrong, there are still plenty of great games coming out but where are the mario's, Zelda's, and FF7's of this generation. Even the game systems are at a loss. I guess I'm spoiled by growing up in the "golden age" and I was blessed by watching games come out that were never even thought possible. When I say golden age I am talking about pre-xbox, when the main systems were owned by sega, nintendo, and the new comer sony. Sure sega wasn't the best system but I honestly felt like they were in it for the games, not the money. This is my opinion and by no means should it be taken that I am saying this is a definite truth. But I constantly find myself back tracking to my older games or constantly hopeing for a game that really made me feel like I wasnt just playing it as a past time. The only games that honestly made me feel this way lately were Okami, God of War, and the Digital Demon Saga's. Maybe I just have a massive case of nostalgia but I really hope in the coming years I see some games that give me hope for the future.

The New PSP

The New PSP looks great and all of the new colors definitly apeal to me.The TV tuner is a great addition but there is one thing that they have not really brushed upon that would be the deciding factor if i were to shell out the bucks to get one.

Portable gaming has always been a passion of mine because I love multi-tasking (i.e. watching TV, listening to music, and playing video games. I owned a PSP on two times and I really liked the fact that it was a multi-media portable game system. Withhopes of a final fantasy 7 remake (which never happened or I have not heard anything about) I purchased the PSP as soon as it came out. The graphics looked great and although I have owned every gameboy ever made (and support Nintendo's portable market fully), I was glad to see a good competitorfor Nintendo. Competition means better games and better prices. Butafter my first purchase, Wipeout (which was weirdly my first playstation game), I started to notice the defects of my newtoy. I could not grasp why they only put on analog stick on the PSP but that wasnt my main problem. It was the load times. I wasexpecting some load time but when I would literallygo make myself a sandwich and come back to the level finially loading inoticed this was quickly going to become a very grueling game experience. Also the lack of strong titles caused me to trade in my PSP and get a DS.

I am a RPG, fighting, andMetal Gearfan. With that said thenewly designed PSP (with possible Final Fantasy Package) and its upcoming titles are starting to pull me back in. I knowSony has stated thatthere will be a larger built in memory in the new system but I havetrouble believing it will make a huge difference. Because Final FantasyTactics is being released (my favorite game hands down) I will most likely cave in and buy the new PSPeven if this issueis not solved. I just cant helpbut wonder why Sony would take such risks in losing strongly devoted customers (like myself and many others whohave been withSony for years) by not taking the truelly impressive and inovative steps like the one taken for the original playstation andthe playstation 2.
