Alright. So here I am, stuck at my desk with no loans to build are people to call. As I was skimming the info-sphere that is gamespot, I realized gamers of this generation (2000 and on) are at a severe disadvantage. I started playing video games when I was 5 so I've been playing game now for 15 years. Honestly the first 10 years were amazing. I watched the rise of Street fighter in the arcades and the evolution of final fantasy. In my honest opinion there have not been as many earth shattering games for the new generation to look back on as I have games to look back on in my youth. Sure the graphics are better but the gameplay and story have slowly been ppushed into a downward spiral. Dont get me wrong, there are still plenty of great games coming out but where are the mario's, Zelda's, and FF7's of this generation. Even the game systems are at a loss. I guess I'm spoiled by growing up in the "golden age" and I was blessed by watching games come out that were never even thought possible. When I say golden age I am talking about pre-xbox, when the main systems were owned by sega, nintendo, and the new comer sony. Sure sega wasn't the best system but I honestly felt like they were in it for the games, not the money. This is my opinion and by no means should it be taken that I am saying this is a definite truth. But I constantly find myself back tracking to my older games or constantly hopeing for a game that really made me feel like I wasnt just playing it as a past time. The only games that honestly made me feel this way lately were Okami, God of War, and the Digital Demon Saga's. Maybe I just have a massive case of nostalgia but I really hope in the coming years I see some games that give me hope for the future.
