Yeah it's better to start from MGS1 then 2 and then 3 because you will understand it better and there are some in jokes that you will understand better too. And if you get caught you might be able to kill al the guards, that's what I did sometimes.

Actually, don't you find out Decoy Octopus was pretending to be the DARPA chief near the end when Snake's in the cell after being tortured and the real DARPA chief is in the same cell, dead, with all the blood drained out of him?
