Its amazing how people pick at a game that is a dinosaur already its so old. Personally I really enjoyed the game and yes it is a game, yes it would have been really amazing if we could control a game in such a way that we can make our own very specific and personal choices for the character at every moment but that simply isnt possible, perhaps someday we can do that and each person out their can play their own Mass Effect and be Shepard or whoever they want.
But for the time when it came out, for the intent I believe was behind it, that which was to create a feeling of high stakes and real galactic threat as it did, the hero had to do things that didnt really give much room for democracy....reminds me of the line in Star Wars where Han Solo was arguing with Princess Leia about not having time to discuss it in a committee... :)
Mass Effect could have given us more choices sure, but part of me feels that all the liberal things that is our world today, would create a game that would never get anywhere. I see Mass Effect as a part of a system where unpopular and radical things need to get done maybe that others don't want to know or see or even acknowledge but are required to get things done. There will always be someone that actually has to do the work, get their hands dirty, just as their will always be someone to blame.
I rather ask why are we discussing a game that was brilliant (for me) when it came out and was really relevant. This remaster is to me just a runner up to set the stage for the new Mass Effect game and in my honest opinion this game was so good that I would have preferred at least some port to Andromeda engine instead of what we got and that is really the only thing worth discussing imo
Yay...more censoring because of misguided political correct BS notions...the world has become a joke where everything said is blown way out of proportions or twisted to suit narrative of some bored liberal who probably hasn't worked a day in their life so sit and judge and harass others who actual contribute.
IMO kill all social media platforms, the cause more harm than good
I LOL at all the fools going on about politics and bullshit in showbiz, I don't care what the woman stands for, she plays a character in a show I like and why would we care what she tweets or believes IRL. Social media just caused more shit than good imo. I miss the good old days when we watched a movie or show because we liked the actor in the show and for the show and didn't know or care if gay or atheist etc...mind your business, live and let live a bit ffs. Arrest or persecute real injustices
@megagood2345: Id do both, teach them a lesson and spite them, simply because as I said before, this is EA games...they can't claim poverty...not them, instead they have a habit of releasing games quickly, incomplete and expect people to pay the premium and let them take their time to "fix" it later...this is EA games to me, money makes the world go round but money is their world.
But my money is mine and if they want it, give me more, especially considering how much money I and I am sure many of us have given them with not nearly the satisfaction we deserved.
Now here is a game of real note that has so much potential and imo it deserves all the attention especially if we are going to get a new Mass Effect game that goes from here. We expect a lot and we should and I would also pay for it then.
@jinzo9988: Agreed, but I personally have never been a fan of revamped movies like the original star wars trilogy changes...I grew up with Star Wars and it was awesome (first 3) but watching it today is simply for nostalgia and if they were to give me the option I would say redo the whole thing, new everything but keep story and feeling that made it great the same (if possible, usually isnt)
When it comes to games we have even more leeway because they can change so much and just redo textures and gameplay fixes can be overalls, removing the Mako or making the experience totally better and shorter or the mineral farming with probes on the planet and much much more.
My point was just that to me, personally, this game was so good, that it should have gotten all the love and attention of more than a simply remaster, id say even build the original series on the Andromeda engine (though it seems crappy, but least gameplay looked good and played decent for me, not the in-game modelling)
These are just my thoughts and maybe ill check out this remaster, but I just wanted more from it and I am not exactly glad to spend the 60 bucks more on what they giving me here. Each to their own ;)
@kenjionigod: You are talking about EA games here, they are probably the biggest publisher out there...they have the means and resources to do this and the unreal 4 engine is not new or unknown to them.
As for extra content, nothing special, but only things that were cut from the originals that could find their way into this game.
As far as I am concerned, ME1 especially is so old that it should have got the port and got redone better. I am not the first person to think this and some have said this refresh doesn't warrant a replay at all and I tend to agree.
My motto is do something well or don't do it at all and EA games have a long way to go before I for one will speak really well of them.
@megagood2345: That is all good and well and of course anyone is free to spend their money as they like. My gripe is just that this game isn't just any game, it was to me and I am sure many others a profound and revolutionary game that imo deserves that extra bit of attention and not just a simply refresh.
Whats more is that EA who has of late been in the headlines not for how wonderful they are but more the opposite, should invest in their consumer and player base rather by providing maybe discount to those who actually supported these game and EA and even those flops like Andromeda
Sorry but its not nearly enough to warrant spending more money on. I own the originals and they were great games, but I wont spend another 60 bucks for this. This game should have been ported to Unreal Engine 4 to be more up to date with current tech. They should have pushed this game above and beyond and given us basically a total overhaul.
Where is the extra content? This is just another play by EA to make more money after gamers have funded so many of their other bogus games. Mass Effect deserved much better than Andromeda and much better than this also imo.
@beachbum: these forums and remarks are all mostly opinion, I never stated that everything is fact but that its my opinion that if they kept mum about the game more like say Rockstar does and gave themselves realistic goals and deadlines then perhaps we could have had a much better result today.
I am just as you and most of the CDPR fans rather disappointed in how they went about this, but I wont simply hang them out to dry after making this kind of mistake. However, they have much to make up for and whatever comes next, they will be scrutinized in the eyes of the world even more so after this fiasco, but I wont write the off, yet.
@rufus_: So you will just bitch and moan about a Developer and Publisher who has up until this time had pretty much a spotless record and not even entertain the points I raised? You seem to have your own agenda to simply slap down whoever doesnt impress the moment it goes pear shaped.
This has been one epically shitty year and I choose to look at things a little more positive buy giving CDPR the benefit of the doubt despite this launch being a mess.
Again I didnt say it wasnt a shitty launch, simply that it was a tough year for them also and their own shareholders most likely pushed to get this game out and maybe they were afraid of bad PR that was going on with the delays of game launch, the crunch issue etc.
I don't consider trying to see the other POV a bad thing, unlike you who seem eager to condemn the moment it goes bad...
