I like humor, so as much as this is a rant, I have to have somethin' in there.
As said by Madonna, we are now living in a material world. With shows like My Super Sweet 16, primadonnas like "heiresses" (Insert name), musicians (Kanye and pretty much, any lyrics to any song), and sports stars (A-Rod) filling headlines, not only just materialistic attitudes exists, but me-first attitudes as well. I first realized this remembering what Carmelo Anthony said after winning an ESPY (which is retarded in itself), "I'd like to thank...myself." He must like having his ego stroked. And what's this have to do with gaming? Well, it's penetrated the video game industry and these system "fanboys" are a part of this culture. That's right, kids (which the loudest are Xbox 360 and PS3 and I'm gonna use this term instead of "fanboy"), I'm comparing you to those snotty kids from My Super Sweet 16 (which most of you are probably younger, now that I think of it).
So where to start? I guess let's start with the gaming market itself. It sounds the market ain't big enough for the the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Well, instead of dueling, we got Al Gore's invention called the Internet where we got kids firing imaginary bullets at each other about which is the best, blah blah blah. Shame on media outlets as well, trying to declare a "winner." Someone's always got to win, and someone's always got lose, huh? What's wrong with going both ways?
Competition breeds success, as I'd like to think everyone knows. As far as I know, their gaming divisions have all lost money so far (Just the hardware costs of Sony and Microsoft's hardware issues) except for Nintendo (Sorry I will not use Wikipedia as a source) trying to make all of you happy. Also, there's this concept called a friendly competition. As an OSU Buckeye (Here come all the SEC kids), I hate Michigan. However, I still acknowledge them as a remarkable program (I'm talking about academics) and having a fairly decent football team. The heads of all these gaming divisions all acknowledge and respect each other as they try to go the extra inch and one-up each other in trying to please you while you're bickering about who knows what. "This system is better: Therefore, I'm better than you for picking this system." Don't them Super Sweet 16 kids think they're better than everyone else because they gotta the best? So the least you kids can do is acknowledge each other.
What else is there? How about the subject of exclusives? As I read that Final Fantasy XIII is now also going to the Xbox 360, kids who own PS3s are complaining about how they keep losing games and if it was the Xbox, kids of that system would feel the same. Huh? As an Xbox owner (There goes my credibility), I would welcome the fact if Halo, Mass Effect, and Ninja Gaiden could be played on the PS3. It'd give me more to talk about with PS3 owners. Gosh, it almost sounds like these boys don't even want to associate with other system boys. They like being around boys like them. Plus, I'm confused; last time I checked, they can still play the game. And as the video game industry is a billion dollar industry, it makes more sense to be multi-system. Don't like "sell-outs?" Go play some indie systems (I used to give flak about indie music going mainstream, but not anymore). And then, here I read the main Sony guy go "Sony has the most exclusives." Are you purposely trying to breed jealousy? Honestly, I could care less. For the time being, I'm not getting a PS3 anytime soon, so their loss.
I guess that's it for now as I'm writing this from Taiwan and it's now 12:45 am. So take a good look at yourself in the mirror. It might be long and hard, but stop thinking that everyone's gotta think like you and somehow if they don't, they're lesser than you. So I rubbed any of you the wrong way, bicker away fans of all systems!
And now I will prolly be banned...for other reasons...
And just like 90% of all YouTube videos, this post is probably fake, so I'm done.
