duke nukem forever, OMAGAD

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser.

Flop of the Year

I can only smack myself upside the head for getting caught up in the hype of this one. Now, I have only only played a little over an hour of it, but my knee-jerk reaction isn't what I was hoping.

+ Great voice acting

+ Technically the graphics are great

- horrible combat system.
I don't want to go in and out of menus while fighting in real time. The cover system is very annoying. Have to go into menu to change between the one biotic power you can hotkey. Controlling your team is useless.

- artistically poor graphics
It doesn't matter how many pixels you've got when all the scenery consists of white walls and sand dunes. They could have a photorealistic white wall in a game, but it's no more fun looking at it then a real white wall.

- dissapointing rpg elements
I've been hearing such great things about the rpg elements in mass effect. So it was very dissapointing when you come to the realization that all the secondary characters are already pre determined and you're stuck having to upgrade them in the same path. And because of this you have to choose your teammates based on their pre-determined skillsets and NOT who you think is cooler. Also you can choose the cla$$ of your commander shepard, but that doesn't help much. Because no matter what you end up with you're going to feel you're missing out. It's not like the RPG of the old Fallouts where you can truly choose the skills of your guy. The RPG elements in this game is laughable compared to Fallout.

- idiotic story
arguably the most important thing in an rpg is the story. People claim the story in ME to be such an awesome story. But all I see is a piece of $hit story with some evil alien trying to destroy the world and you have to stop him, with the help of your friends. BOOOOOOOOOOOO, I say to that.

- horrible atmosphere
the most important thing for me in a game is hands down, the atmosphere. ME fails here as well. But I will give it this, the only reason the atmosphere is a donkey fart in my opinion is because I hate sci-fi and aliens. So there.

That's some damn good coffee you've got here in....... Rainy Woods!?!

I've been psyched aboot a game called Alan Wake for quite some time now. As there is no secret regarding what the game is based on, Twin Peaks. Now, one might wonder how it would be that such an incredible TV-series never has had it's universe ripped off by crappy videogames before. The reason might be that crappy developers doesn't realise the greatness of Twin Peaks. One can only hope, because low and behold there is another one in the works! It's a game called Rainy Woods, and I thought I was gonna inform my loyal reader (hi mom!) aboot it. The game's main character is an FBI agent who must travel to a typical mid-western town to investigate a murder. Once there he can seek help from local law enforcment characters or just advise his split personality. The game also features such great things as man-with-gasmask-in-wheelchair, multiple midgets (words are bullets) and bloody murder. All this seems really promising on paper, but can it deliver? I sure hope so. And be sure to check out the trailer, it's pretty awesome.

Double the midgets of Twin Peaks, how can that fail?

Welcome to Twin.... er.. Rainy Woods!

I might also blog aboot the upcoming TV-Shows I'm watching this fall on tv, if you're interested. I might also blog about some of the movies I've seen lately, if I feel up for it.

I never apologize. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am.

There won't be any apologizing at WWE Unforgiven this sunday (oh snap!), so I thought I'd humor myself by making another prediction post.

Deuce & Domino vs Matt Hardy and MVP (c) for the WWE Tag Team championships.

D&D was never really over with the crowd, and neither did giving them the tag belts help much. So it's not very strange that we now have new tag champs on Smackdown. And that probably won't change after this sunday. Matt Hardy and MVP to retain.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch (c) for the World Tag Team championships.

Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch is another tag team failing to garner almost any reaction from the crowd. But it's not like they're going to lose their titles right away. So Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch aka. the redneck wrecking crew to retain.

CM Punk (c) Elijah Burke for the ECW Championship.

So after Johnny steroids lost his title at a recent TV taping, it's obvious that he has gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar at some point. So even though he didn't become champ the way they wanted it CM Punk still finally managed to get the belt. But now what stands in his way is a barrage of ECW Extremists that aren't close to being over enough to realistically challenge him. So I think and hope that he keeps his title until his immenent move over to RAW or Smackdown. And of course to do that he must retain at Unforgiven. And no, I don't know what's wrong with his hair in the picture.

Triple H vs Carlito

No amount of fro' power is gonna stop Triple H from squashing his way to the title picture again. Triple H to win.

The Undertaker vs Mark Henry

Mark Henry may be a better fit as one of the gorillas in a Planet of the Apes movie (it was earth all along!! YEARGGHH!). Besides there is just no way he's defeating Big Evil, return match or no. Undertaker to win.

The Great Khali (c) vs. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship.

I'm really unsure wether Batista or Khali is going to win this one. But what I hope will happen is that Khali defends, and then goes on to have another massive (damage) fued with The Undertaker. Which would culminate at Survivor Series, leaving the road to Wrestlemania free for The Undertaker, so he could have a good fued. Hopefully with Edge. So Khali to defend.

John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship

All common sense points towards Cena dropping the belt now. All the fans have their panties in a bunch and are enraging about how long he's held the title. Randy Orton seems like the perfect guy to take the title away and continue on with other fueds that will give the WWE a ratings high. It's also Cena's 1 year anniversary with the belt now. But since don't believe in common sense I pick Cena to win, again.

The gum that you like... it's coming back in style..

Alas the summer nears its end, but never-fear Summerslam is here! Ok, enough rhyming. This post is basically my prediction for the upcoming Pay-Per-View (spectacular), Summerslam. This post is really only directed towards wrestling fans, I proof read this stuff so there's at least one. But the rest of you should probably just hit back on your browser right now. It should also be noted that I avoid wrestling news/spoilers on the internet, so there is probably a lot of backstage news I'm not privvy to, which indeed makes this post completely useless and nothing else then insane ramblings.

Starting from the bottom of the card.

Finlay vs. Kane

It would seem that with Edge's injury Kane would have to change his plans, and indeed he did. Now picking on the Irish. He's tall, he is mean and has a really bad haircut. But my guess is he's more likely getting pushed by the WWE. So Kane to win.

Mr. Kennedy vs. Umaga(c) vs. Carlito for the Intercontinental Championship

I think the original plan was to have Jeff Hardy win the title from Umaga with some help from the Jackass crew. But with Jackass pulling out and Jeff Hardy somehow deciding to show up for work "not in shape to wrestle," getting himself a 30 day suspension and having his push killed, somehow changes the landscape. Even though I want Kennedy to win the belt to hopefully be protected from Triple H I don't really see that happening. So my pick is Umaga to defend.

John Morrison(c) vs. CM Punk for the ECW Championship

This one is pretty easy. Since ECW doesn't have any other wrestler even close to the main event picture yet. It would be the only choice to keep the fued going for as long as possible. So John Morrison to defend.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero

No amount of "Chavito heat" is gonna keep him from getting squashed by the returning Rey Mysterio. That's just the way it is. So Rey Mysterio to win.

The Great Khali(c) vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship

Bowling shoe ugly offence is a phrase I think JR would use a lot were he to commentate this match. Luckily for him though, he isn't. There is no doubt there will be very little wrestling action in this match on the account that one of the wrestlers is 7'1" (216.5 cm) and can barely walk, and the other spent so much time doing roids and trimming his goatee he actually forgot to work out, rendering him barely able to lift cruisweights convincingly. None-the-less someone has to win this thing. And since Smackdown isn't exactly full of main eventers waiting to step up, now in the wake of the draft. I see this fued also going on for a while longer. I may be wrong, but Khali to defend.

Triple H vs. King Booker

Hah! As if The Game, The Cerebral Assassin, Terra Ryzing, The King of Kings, Triple H is going to lose his return match. Triple H to win.

John Cena(c) vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship

A lot of people are convinced that Randy Orton is going to win. And having recently seen all the Pay-per-views from 2002 I definately see the similarities between this match and Rock vs. Brock at Summerslam 02. On the other hand John Cena defending his title isn't exactly a rare commodity as of late. It's easy to see Orton winning the title and then going on to either Triple H or Shawn Michaels to lose the belt. And it's harder to see what would be Cena's immediate future were he to defend. Kennedy and Booker both could have worked, but it seems both of those wouldn't be credible for a championship fued at the moment the way the WWE is playing their hand. In the end however it's hard to bet against "the champ" because it wouldn't surprize me if on Monday Night Raw we're gonna hear; "THE CHAMP IS HERE." My pick and I know Gerstmann's pick, John Cena. It's better to be right when everyone thinks you're wrong, then to be right when everyone is right.
