Alas the summer nears its end, but never-fear Summerslam is here! Ok, enough rhyming. This post is basically my prediction for the upcoming Pay-Per-View (spectacular), Summerslam. This post is really only directed towards wrestling fans, I proof read this stuff so there's at least one. But the rest of you should probably just hit back on your browser right now. It should also be noted that I avoid wrestling news/spoilers on the internet, so there is probably a lot of backstage news I'm not privvy to, which indeed makes this post completely useless and nothing else then insane ramblings.
Starting from the bottom of the card.
Finlay vs. Kane
It would seem that with Edge's injury Kane would have to change his plans, and indeed he did. Now picking on the Irish. He's tall, he is mean and has a really bad haircut. But my guess is he's more likely getting pushed by the WWE. So Kane to win.
Mr. Kennedy vs. Umaga(c) vs. Carlito for the Intercontinental Championship
I think the original plan was to have Jeff Hardy win the title from Umaga with some help from the Jackass crew. But with Jackass pulling out and Jeff Hardy somehow deciding to show up for work "not in shape to wrestle," getting himself a 30 day suspension and having his push killed, somehow changes the landscape. Even though I want Kennedy to win the belt to hopefully be protected from Triple H I don't really see that happening. So my pick is Umaga to defend.
John Morrison(c) vs. CM Punk for the ECW Championship
This one is pretty easy. Since ECW doesn't have any other wrestler even close to the main event picture yet. It would be the only choice to keep the fued going for as long as possible. So John Morrison to defend.
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero
No amount of "Chavito heat" is gonna keep him from getting squashed by the returning Rey Mysterio. That's just the way it is. So Rey Mysterio to win.
The Great Khali(c) vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship
Bowling shoe ugly offence is a phrase I think JR would use a lot were he to commentate this match. Luckily for him though, he isn't. There is no doubt there will be very little wrestling action in this match on the account that one of the wrestlers is 7'1" (216.5 cm) and can barely walk, and the other spent so much time doing roids and trimming his goatee he actually forgot to work out, rendering him barely able to lift cruisweights convincingly. None-the-less someone has to win this thing. And since Smackdown isn't exactly full of main eventers waiting to step up, now in the wake of the draft. I see this fued also going on for a while longer. I may be wrong, but Khali to defend.
Triple H vs. King Booker
Hah! As if The Game, The Cerebral Assassin, Terra Ryzing, The King of Kings, Triple H is going to lose his return match. Triple H to win.
John Cena(c) vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship
A lot of people are convinced that Randy Orton is going to win. And having recently seen all the Pay-per-views from 2002 I definately see the similarities between this match and Rock vs. Brock at Summerslam 02. On the other hand John Cena defending his title isn't exactly a rare commodity as of late. It's easy to see Orton winning the title and then going on to either Triple H or Shawn Michaels to lose the belt. And it's harder to see what would be Cena's immediate future were he to defend. Kennedy and Booker both could have worked, but it seems both of those wouldn't be credible for a championship fued at the moment the way the WWE is playing their hand. In the end however it's hard to bet against "the champ" because it wouldn't surprize me if on Monday Night Raw we're gonna hear; "THE CHAMP IS HERE." My pick and I know Gerstmann's pick, John Cena. It's better to be right when everyone thinks you're wrong, then to be right when everyone is right.
