3-3 Draw

As you may know, I'm a big football (soccer) fan. You may also know I'm Polish and I live in Poland, in the city of Poznan. Something happened yesterday that made me very proud and happy. My local football team LECH POZNAN, the Polish champion, earns a 3-3 draw playing away to the three-time UEFA Cup winners, JUVENTUS TURIN in the first match of the EUROPA LEAGUE's group stage at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

Latvian player Artjoms Rudnevs, who joined Lech Poznan this season, had the first two goals of the match. He opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after the Brazil midfielder Felipe Melo brought down Slawomir Peszko, and doubled the lead in the 30th minute when left unmarked in the area. After opening half hour Lech Poznan led 0-2!

But Juventus hit back with a goal either side of halftime by defender Giorgio Chiellini (45', 50'). Alessandro Del Piero put Juventus ahead in the 68th with a long shot from outside the area. Rudnevs rescued a point for Lech just before the final whistle when he unleashed a rocket from 30 yards that skimmed off the underside of the crossbar and into the net to complete his hat trick. It was the second minute of added time in the second half!

The match was very dramatic - we could have won but we could have lost too, so I think a draw is fair. Considering it was Juventus we played against I'm very happy and satisfied with the result.:)

Zombies ate my brain!

Luckily, it only happened in video game. :P

I was playing Plants vs. Zombies on my PC lately and I must say, I absolutely love it! In case you haven't heard of PvZ, it is a tower defense game in which you use a variety of plants to defend your home from zombies. I know it may sounds ridiculous but I assure you: the game is incredibly fun!

Plants vs. Zombies was developed and published by PopCap Games for the PC and MAC last year. A version for the iPhone (and an HD version for the iPad) was released in February 2010. An Xbox360 version introducing new gameplay modes and features (i.e. co-op and 2-player vs. mode!) was released on September 8, 2010. PopCap has also announced a Nintendo DS version, to be released in January 2011. Check GS review for more info about this awesome game, get your copy and get ready to soil your plants!

Thank you Uruguay, thank you Diego Forlan!

It is official - the fourth best team at the 2010 World Cup is Uruguay!

La Celeste lost to the Germany 3:2 in a game for the bronze medal. Diego Forlan scored one goal and also hit the crossbar with the last kick at the last minute of the game. He finished tournament with 5 goals and became the first player since Lothar Matthäus in 1990 to score three goals outside the penalty area in the World Cup Finals. Uruguay could have won bronze medal but 4th place is still awesome!

Well done lads, you deserve it! I am not a Uruguayan but as a football fan I must admit it was a real pleasure watching you! :D

My purchases via Steam plus movie recommendation

Here are my latest purchases I made through Steam:

Portal

I've played Portal on my Xbox360 but since it's free (but only until May 24th) I decided to get it for the PC.

Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines

A role-playing game developed by Troika Games - just what I've always wanted to play and now I got it. :D

I also watched Jackie Chan: Drunken Master - a 1978 Hong Kong martial arts action comedy film and this was the third time I've watched this movie! If you haven't seen it yet and you like martial arts movies I strongly recommend that you see it as soon as possible.

Oh, and one more thing...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Batman: The Killing Joke - new avatar and banner

Hi guys :D

It's been a long time since my last blog. How do you like my new user icon and banner? Images comes from Batman: The Killing Joke, graphic novel written by Alan Moore and drawn by Brian Bolland (published by DC Comics in 1988 ).

The Killing Joke had an extraordinary impact not only on the DC Universe but also on other media. Tim Burton claimed that The Killing Joke influenced his film adaptation of Batman and Christopher Nolan has mentioned that The Killing Joke served as an influence for the version of the Joker appearing in The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger, who played the Joker, stated in an interview that he was given a copy of The Killing Joke as reference for the role.

If you haven't read it, you should.

Here's a little teaser: Mark Hamill is reading Joker's monologue from The Killing Joke!
