I use a g700 wireless and I've never noticed a lag. In fact, it's faster than my wired mouse at work, which should tell you something.

You can often find motherboard diagrams with pin-specifications if you take the model number on the bar-code sticker and look it up on the manufacturer website. it doesn't sound like it's labeled on your PC, and those stock motherboards often have very little labeling on them. Luckily, if you can't find a diagram for your model, other motherboards of the same brand will probably have identical layouts for pins.

Don't neglect to look at the manual for the type of video modes it has built in. Often, image-correction features on these TVs end up HURTING your visual clarity in an attempt to smooth things out. At the very least, you should be able to turn off the correction feature and see improved quality. Also, lag is a significant concern depending on the TVs processing capabilities and your connection type. HDMI should be your go-to, even if you need to upgrade the video card on your gaming PC. Lag will vary from model to model, even though Bravia is pretty high-end.

Small SSDs (40-60GB) are cheap enough at this point that I think it's worth getting one for your OS, game and media files. If you're getting weird sounds, I'd be worried about that HDD failing. Make sure you back it up before you lose whatever you've got on there.

I always back up my critical files in the cloud, and periodically burn stuff to disc if I'm concerned about it getting compromised by malware. For media files, a backup on external hard drive is wise, too.

i bought a gaming pc from someone i know who works in second hands electronics.

The pc only cost me £225 he did tell me it would be alright for older games but you may need to upgrade some parts for alot better preformance.

My current specs are

Processor - AMD Phenom 8400 triple core - 2.10GHz

Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 6450

Ram - 4gb

Just want to know some advice on what should i upgrade am i ok with the 4gb ram and the processor, and i could do with a few points towards direction on what graphics card i should get to at least play the latest games at a reasonable level.

Thanks.

ps i've got about £150/$230 i could spend

It'll be good if you start by maxing out the RAM on that old PC. Depending on the age, you might be able to get 8GB into it. Upgrading the graphics card might be a good idea as well, but don't go crazy, as after that the CPU will be your bottleneck, and I never see a point in upgrading them without upgrading the motherboard as well. At that point, you might as well be building a whole new gaming PC.

PC does have compatibility problems, but there are workarounds, whereas consoles won't let you have the control to do workarounds. For instance, I tried to play Myst on my Win7 PC last year, only to find that there was no amount of settings tweaking I could do to make it run without crashing. That's a strong argument to learn how to dual-boot your gaming PC into old operating systems in order to play your retro titles.
