I think it's great that you all are having a good discussion, but please try to keep quote chains low. While it isn't a rule here (at leastI don't think so :P), it would make people's pages load faster and it would look a lot neater. Thanks. :)maa4208

The last boss can be killer. Too Kotor 2's boss was a pushover...
Indeed, I am play Oblivion on my PC right now. Loving every minute of it. :D
As for this comparison of FFVII to FFVIII in vice versus. I think we can all agree(and sadly myself) that Nobuo's musical masterpiece was in Final Fantasy VIII. But I will agree that Final Fantasy VIIhad a nice soundtrack as well!
After Oblvion, you should try Morrowind. It's a much better game.
No it's not. Both are amazing thoughI've played and beaten every single Elder Scrolls game. So now I am going back to where I left off with Oblivion. Morrowind is probably one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I was so immersed in the storyline especially with the Nerevarine. Things felt...alive; I guess you could say that. And when you traveled, you traveled. I think one of the greatest moments in the game was actually assisting the Dunmer people. I personally felt like I had to do all I can to stop the evil in Red Mountain. At first you realize there'sa subtle connection between Nerevar and yourself. But since the game is so open-ended a player can easily forget about it. If you become intrigued with Morrowind lore, your realize the importants of the Nerevarine. And then you feel as if everyone on the island of Morrowind is dependent on you. You start learning more about the Nerevarine, and then suddenly those subtle connections grow bigger to the point where you begin to believe that you're the reincarnation. And the point of view in the game makes the player himself(not just this character you play) feel like Nerevar incarnate. Players can either discover this,or take up other roles in the world. Again, Morrowind was so immersive I lost myself in it for a time.
I know what you mean. I spent a whole summer playingit and Im still not done. To me, it was time well spent. I love that game. Oblivion was a big dissapointment for me, honestly. there was no soul, no sense of imaginaion that Morrowind had. It felt empty. There was so much more to do in Morrowind. Oblivion just doesnt immerse me. It's still a great game though.
What Oblivion did you play?!I have the 360, and the PC version. It's much, much better with the overhaul mod.
I do think Oblivion was downgraded from Morrowind. Morrowind has more guilds, more quests, varying landscapes. That aside, the worst thing about Oblivion is it's leveling system. In Morrowind, it was a great accomplishment when you aqcuired a rare piece of equipment like daedric. In Oblivion, once you hit level 20, half the bandits you meet are in Daedric! It kills the sense of progression that Elder Scrolls games are known for.It feels like alinear RPG system, level-up, uprade equipment. Also, the one of a kind artifacts can only be found in shops in Oblivion (with the exception of the Daedric quests, which kills the need to explore unless you need money from random loot. Lastly, in Oblivion, the game held your hand every step of the way. You always knew where to go, what to do, and who to talk to, and exactly where they were. It seems all the excitement happens on the main roads in Oblivion, giving you little motivation to go off the path for a bit of exploring. In Morrowind, if you went off the path, you would find things like Azura's Shrine, and underwater Daedric ruin, and a half sunken Dwemer Fort.
Anyways, this is off-topic. But Morrowind is my favorite game of all time, and a diehard Elder Scrolls fan, and I felt like Oblivion didnt live up to the previous games.
thats a lot of friggin quotes lol
[QUOTE="Nathan_Rocks"]Why in the name of god are you talking about that crap?
Anyway... Final Fantasy 8 is better than 7 in my eyes because 7 is extremely depressing. The story line consists of people dying, cloud moaning and even some really disturbing gay scene. FF7 is probably only more popular than final fantasy 8 because it appeals to your kinda people....er that probably makes no sense but i dont care. Final Fantasy 8 offers a very interesting storyline and very likable characters, and their backstories make sense ( a vampire found in a mansion....ok....). Also that thing with cloud just messed with my head and to this day i have no idea what he is , because apperently he's not who he is supposed to be, but then again i was 5 when i first played it. There is nothing cheerful about final fantasy 7 and i have to put my verdict on it.... the developers were going through an 'emo' stage in their life because every time i try to play that game the over world music just gets me and goes ' erm nathan you see that kitchen knife? ' ' yeah ' ' contemplate suicide while i droan if you will ' ' erm ok....'
And final fantasy 8 actually makes sense in its plot line ( okay towards the end it does seem to be a bit of bulls**t but none the less very interesting) and the cheery theme of school and more human like characters gives it a very comfortable atmosphere and the limit breaks are a hell lot better then 7 jeez.
Ok , i did write this a bit late in the night but if you are an understanding person who won't fill me on the plot of final fantasy 7 because i frankly don't care and you understand my point, then thank you.
Thank you and good night. Much love.

Being a teenager I think it would be easier to relate to the character's of Final Fantasy VIII, and situations regarding "school"(if you want to call Balamb Garden school). And the whole young love interest as well. I also like the transitions between Squall and Laguna. But I still feel that out of the gameplay, characters, and what not the music is the strongest thing going for Final Fantasy VIII. I think when it comes to videogame soundtracks(excluding the FFVII OST being the bestselling VG soundtrack of all time), a lot of composer would agree that FFVIII strongest point was the music alone out of everything that game had to offer.
Now, emo. That must be a term everyone likes to use today, also like the insult of calling someone a Jew in a negative way(thanks South Park). But anyway; Sakaguchi mother died prior to Final Fantasy VII and that's why life plays a big part in the game. I won't go into detail with your confusion of FFVII. That same confusion(and surprise for others) has kept many us of glued to it. And I am sure you have your own reasons for loving Final Fantasy VIII. But just like I said before, opinions like this just make more people nag like myself. :P
AND, The Elder Scrolls is awesome. lol
thank you i couldnt of asked for a better response.:D
