Halo 3 Legendary Edition: Update

SWEET!!!

After waiting 3 hours in line from 9pm PST I finally just got home and opened up the box.The helmet is a good size and has some nice artwork.

Of all things I stood in line next to a Christian minister. Was very cool we had a lot to talk about God and Halo haha. Helped make those 3 painful hours fly!

Odd thing is that it comes with an extra set of DVDs. I know it's got some Red vs. Blue machinima but there is a warning to put the game in first!

I'm going to check it out right now! Peace :)

Gamespot Level 30: I hardly knew you

Well, I'm finally writing my Gamespot Level 30 Blog that I've always wanted to write on the eve of 97.68% of the way to being Level 31. Ever since Gamespot started rating levels of their visitors I aspired to be Level 30. I remember looking at Greg Kasavin and thinking, "WOW!! He's Level 30!!! AMAZING!!" And now I am Level 30 too.

Much has happened in my life during Level 30. I've come to know deeper levels of Christ. Before Level 30, I used to work so hard to climb in levels. But I've worked hard to slow down my growth and have lingered at Level 30 for some time now.

I am ready to leave Level 30 now.

Peace.

Wii Opera!! First blog post from my Wii!

SWEET!!! I'm surfing the web and posting a blog from my Wii!! Opera is out now and I'm using the Wii-mote and auto-complete to post my first blog entry directly from my Wii, wirelessly from my couch and via 802.11g! Amazing! Good work Nintendo and Opera! With the excellent weather channel released earlier this week and now web browsing, the Wii is becoming even MORE AWESOME with each passing week!

Gamespot 12/12/2006 = BORRRRING SNOOZEFEST

"A day late and a buck short" would best describe Gamespot lately.  It happens every few months or so but these past few weeks post Wii launch have been BORRRRING!!

Instead of cramming their way through great Wii titles and rating them undeservedly low, Gamespot should have paced themselves and spread out the reviews.

It's 12/12/2006 and every day has been the same SNOOZEFEST links for the past 2 weeks.  Again, BOOORRRING.

This the biggest season in gaming, arguably in years and Gamespot has nothing to offer but pessimistic reviews that reek of burnout.

What's worse is the reviews are mediocre in quality AND have been coming out late.  I thought they received games before release date to review.  Maybe I am wrong, but if I am not, how disappointing.

This week has many promising titles.  I hope Gamespot can put out some interesting and timely reviews.  Gamespot has largely been the best source of gaming information for a long time.  But I have no idea what is up with Gamespot these days.  I hope they can pull it together.  I am optimistic.

If it came down to it however, I would much rather wait a week for a good solid review as opposed to the pessimistic burnout grinch scrooge reviews that Gamespot has been cranking out.  BLAH!

Thanksgiving at Truxton's

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Truxton's American Bistro for providing my family, girlfriend and me with one of the best Thanksgiving Feasts ever!!

My Mom has been working crazy long hours lately and she was too tired to cook this year.  Truxton's is this place that isn't widely known yet but man is it great.  My girlfriend and I eat there almost every weekend for our quality time dinner together.  I heard they were having a Thanksgiving Buffet so I signed us up.

It was a small gathering.  Mom, Dad, Necelyn (my girlfriend) and even my brother Walter made it out! :)  I was so happy to see my brother, I rarely get to anymore.  It was an awesome celebration :)

The turkey turned out to be the best white meat turkey I ever had.  So tender, juicy and moist!  Their secret was to slice it to perfection then keep it soaked in a flavorful broth.  I normally cant stand the typically dry white meat of Thanksgiving Turkey but I am converted as of today.

The pièce de résistance was the Carrot Soufflé!!!  Man was that awesome and genius.  Savory and sweet and delicious!  I am glad to report that they are adding it to their normal menu which is already awesome as a new side dish!  If you are ever in Los Angeles near the LAX area I highly recommend you check out this place for some awesome, reasonably priced grub!!

Again all praise and thanks to God for a great Thanksgiving!! :)

Video Game Extravaganza

Well, Thanksgiving is here and I get a WHOLE 4 DAYS OFF!!! YES!!! So I decided to go on yet another Video Game buying spree to soak my weekend in digital goodness!

So, last weekend I picked up my Wii which came with Wii Sports.  I also picked up Zelda: Twilight Princess, Red Steel, Call of Duty 3 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance for my shiny new Wii.  I usually keep my habit down to about 1 new game a week and this was already excessive for me.  Earlier that week I also picked up Yoshi's Island for the DS which is a totally awesome game!

On Wednesday after work, I went to EB Games to pick up my Old School Wii Controller, finally it came in so I can spend some of my 2000 pre-purchased Wii points and get some Old School games.  Unfortunately, nothing I really want yet.  I've already gotten 120 stars on Super Mario 64 on the N64.  I'd like to get SNES Mario Kart!!!  They should make it Online play too!  OH, GOLDEN EYE with ONLINE 4 PLAYER!!!  Nintendo, you don't need to pay me for those ideas, those are freebies.  But I digress.

So it's Wednesday night and I'm at EB Games.  I've got 4 days of luxurious video gaming ahead of me.  I got Final Fantasy III for DS, Guild Wars: Nightfall Collector's Edition, and Need For Speed: Carbon Wii!!!

Where am I going with this?  Well, this is the most I've ever spent on video games in two weeks in my life.  Adding EVERYTHING up, the Wii, the games, the extra controllers, the 2000 Wii Points, the Game Guides... It all came to a grand total of $725 +tax.  And this is simply a mind blowingly fun array of A+ rated video games.  I could hardly buy a PS3 and two PS3 games for this money.

God is Great, God is Good!!  Thank you Jesus for such an awesome life filled with such awesome games!!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!  I'm going to go back to gaming :)

Wii is AWESOME

Well, I got my Wii today shortly after midnight.  I brought it home, installed it and it is AWESOME!!!  I picked up a Wii, an extra Wii-mote, Nunchuck, Zelda Twilight Princess, Official Zelda Twilight Princess Game Guide, Red Steel, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Call of Duty 3, and 2000 Wii points to go shopping with.

I picked my Wii up from EB Games at the Howard Hughes Plaza in Los Angeles at approximately 12:30am.  The manager there is pretty good and made sure that I got everything I wanted.  However, there were numerous shady characters lurking with obvious intentions to snatch a Wii from an unsuspecting owner.  With a little vigilance and timing I got out with all my booty in tact :)

The Wii also came with Wii sports which is so far the most fun my girlfriend and I have had with the Wii as far as games go.  Normally she is mediocre to terrible at video games but man she kicked my but at every sport and it was a blast.  I also ordered an old school controller but that won't be in until Wednesday.

First thing I did was set the Wii up and get it hooked up via WiFi which was a snap.  It updated and my girlfriend was taking pictures of me doing the whole thing.  I took her SD card out of her camera and popped it in and it was just amazing.  I had pictures from her sister's wedding and set it on slide show and it was totally awesome!!

We then tried to play all the games I got.  We started with Wii sports and that was just a blast.  Boxing is a total workout.  We also bowled and played tennis.  Both of which were extremely fun, responsive and intuitive.

Next we tried Red Steel... Although we only tried multiplayer, I have to say that I am disappointed with the game so far.  I'll have to give it a try again with some sleep.

Lastly, we tried Marvel Ultimate Alliance which was also pretty fun but we are just exhausted.  It's 4:33am as I write this.

All in all the Wii is just amazing.  It is the first time I have ever touched one and it is mine.  I couldn't get into the Nintendo booth at E3.  I am extremely relieved to report that the controls are just fantastic.  The Wii-mote technology is extremely precise and tons of fun!!  I am looking forward to the future of Wii development.  I'm going to try and get some rest and try out Zelda and CoD3 tomorrow!!  So far my girlfriend and I love the Wii.  Kudos to Nintendo!!

Good Night :)

About Me :)

I thought, I would actually start a blog for anyone interested.

My name is Shoji, I am 36 and I have been playing video games for about 30 years now. I started with Pong when I was about 6 or so. I love video games.

I built my first computer, a SinclairZX81,when I was 9 years old in 1979 (with my father's help of course) because my mom would not let me have an Atari 2600 to play video games. I built the computer because they allowed me to play video games only if I programmed them.

I have worked for Sony as a game tester on Jak 3. You can see my name in the credits as Shoji "God Mode" Claus. I got that name because I set 7 out of the 12 Jak 3 records and because I am a devout Christian who loves God.

Even though I am 36, I still have strong gaming skills and reflexes. In the past I've won several Counter-Strike Championships and Ladders. I currently hold8 world titles in Subspace(called Continuum today), 4 Professional Championship Wins and 4 2v2 Championship Wins. You can download this fantastic game with an amazing community for FREE here!! I am working to claim my 5th Professional Championship soon as I enter finals this coming weekend (I am Neo and I play for Assassins).

Today, I am a computer expert and I work as an Information Technology Manager for LaserPacific Media Corporation. That means I am one of the computer guys for a place that makes Movies, TV shows and DVDs. I love computers and technology and I love helping people.

It is my current goal to either Own, CEO or Develop for a video game company within the next 5 years. I believe video games are the most significant means of interactivity, media and story telling in our generation. I have a vision to create controversial, compelling, exciting, innovative and revolutionary video game content that will continue to set new precedents and paradigms in video gaming, all in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

I intend to use all that I have learned to develop video games that will bring all peoples of the world together in Christ.

Thanks for reading!

Peace.
