I would suggest you to get Bioshock cause first of all, it's less expensive than MGS4 which is good, (2) you don't need to play previous games to totally understand the whol;e story. If someone tells you they totally understand the whole MSG lore by playing only the 4th one, they don't know anything about MGS. Bioshock is probably the first shooter i played that the story was actually really entertainning. I would suggest you to get Bioshock so when bioshock 2 comes around you know a bit of story of the 1st one. If you're opting for MGS, I'd say get Twin Snakes on Gamecube, get Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater on PS2 (PS3 if urs capable of playing PS2 games) then get the 4th one to fully enjoy it. Both games are sure values tho. Bioshock is cheaper :P

The Blu-Ray disc has two layers that are read at different speeds. The information on the "bottom" later is installed, so the game can recieve info for environments, building structures, and what not from the HDD while all the real time stuff comes from the "top" layer of the disc. It really has nothing to do with the speed at which the disc is read. A lot of games don't even install anymore. And even installing games on your HDD does not really make much difference at all on your load times depending on the game. Also, MGS4 installs one portion at a time because its almost a full disc worth of info which is 50 gigs. Not everyone has room for that. That would be insane. As far as it being on that other console being better I completely disagree. Load times will be about the same and changing discs will do just as much to break up the fun as an install. At least during the install we can stay on our lazy bums and read all the funny stuff on the install screen. Regardless, it will be a WHOLE lot quieter! lolNephilim83
The best exemple why sometimes installation is better is the case of Star Ocean: The last hope on Xbox 360. I really hope this game comes for the PS3 and the installation process is available. In Star Ocean, you have to swap the disk everytime you leave the end of the game area to go elsewhere. So swapping disk is really annoying and takes about the same time you're waiting at MGS4 install downtime. Having to get up, searching for the case, taking the disk 2 opening the xbox, changing, reputting disk 3 in case, sitting back down, xbox loading the game, takes about 2-3 minutes. But oh wait you forgot to actually go grind levels in the ending area, then again have to stand up blah blah blah. When you have the 20gig HDD like I do on my xbox you can'T install the 3 disks to prevent that. In a whole that takes up to 24 gig++ I don't even know if the game recognize the data on the HDD when it ask you to swap disks. Maybe not which would be pointless.
Sony has to start to make profit of the PS3 or make another less cost effective version that would include a 4X drive in it. In games like SF4, when playing online it creates unnacceptable downtime in between fights. If 1 of the players doesnt installed it, you still have to wait even if U installed it. You're getting punished anyway. PS3 needs to be redesigned to cost less to produce so Sony starts making money out of it and players would be buying it cause right now it seems a lot arent buying it cause it's too expensive. 4X speed drive would be a must in certain case.
I must agree that the concept is a bit weird. But if the producer of this game made Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throtle, well i'm sorry but this game will definitely rock (in both terms) Any fan of Tenacious D will buy the game for the heck of hearing Jack Black doing his jokes and songs which will be awesome! Can't wait to see more footage of actual gameplay
I hope PS3 exclusives will be more like Metal Gear solid 4 in term of quality games cause Resistance 2 was a massive let down for me. Havent played the 1st one I didnt know what to expect but seriously i'm starting to be pissed of that 720p **** when all xbox games are 1080p like always? I bought a true HD TV last summer to benefits the most of it with the PS3 and such but 720p only = fail material. Oh and why is the PS3 always selecting the 720p when there's1080p available? Dead Space is the example I want to mention. If I want Dead Space in 1080p I got to turn off the 720p option in my settings. Wtf is that seriously. But back to resistance. This game was (1) way too hard at normal settings. Getting hit by 1 bullet and your screen turns red like you're about to die just like in CoD at expert? The textures reminded me of a PS2 game no joke. There's at some point in the game where you're in some space ship and when you look down below you can see the ground with farms and houses and stuff. I swear to god this picture was taken with a 0.01 megapixel camera and was implemented in the game it's awful. Uncharted (even if it's graphic was really awesome) was still only in 720p. Hope Killzone is in 1080p cause I was crips graphics to see the full potential of the console just like in MGS4.
Graphics doesnt make the game but it helps greatly. LBP also is in 720p. So does Silent Hill Homecoming, I could continue to ennumerate all the games I had to exchange to get the best of them on the Xbox. /deceived
I have both consoles, Xbox and Ps3 and after thinking about it myself alot if u'r aiming for the best out of the two, stick with ur Xbox 360. I'm not a fanboy or whatever, consoles are just plastic with motherboard inside afterall :P plus they offer pretty much the same games. What makes me think Xbox gets the upperhand is the 720p VS 1080p issue. I bought Grand Theft Auto 4, CoD4, Silent hill HC, Battlefield BC on PS3. Then I bought my Xbox so one of my friend who get pretty much the same games as I do lent me some of his to compare. I was astonished how Xbox version of ported games are awesome. All these ported titles I listed above were visually greater to look at by a large margin The very only one title that looked slightly better on PS3 was Dead Space nothing more.
I'm glad that I got a PS3 tho cause exclusives on it are awesome. I'M a hardcore fan of Metal Gear Solid (who's not?) and Little Big Planet :P But I will never again buy a "going on two consoles at the same time" game on PS3 cause they are downgrades from Xbox360 ver. I guess programmers still works with old school programming for games and don't want to mess too much around with that cell processor thingy for too long. That's just my personnal thought not a verified fact. Plus atm PSNetwork is laggy as hell compared to xbox live. I bought Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix on both and PSN lags constantly while xbox live is fluid all the time. I can't remember when I lagged on live actually. On PSN, depending on the game, it lags badly. Resistance doesnt and LBP doesnt most of the time. It depends.
Go PS3 for Exclusives, BluRay, commodities of PS3 (Official Bluetooth microphone = godly compared to Xbox 360 wireless mic. and other accessories)
For 1080p function in all games go Xbox if u have a true HD tv.
I hope it helped :P
