- Will Wright's SPORE - Sep. 7, 2008 -

  1. On which consoles will it be released on day one? (I thought it was Wii only, but today I read PC and Mac only [article: http://www.news.com/8301-13772_3-9938601-52.html], I have heard Wii only, I have heard PC, Mac, Wii only... then some people on random forums have even suggested 360 and ps3 versions, but I think they just might be vastly uninformed.)
  2. Is it going to have downloadable content? (We all know its supposed to be an organic game that has so much content you could be busy for a solid month with no sleep and no life if you wanted to. However, user created content seems like an obvious necessity for this type of game to live up to its potential lifespan. Do you think the game should have some form of interaction between you and a content server / community? Do you think that would be the lifeblood of the game moving forward or a tertiary item to look at in 6 months?)
  3. Will it break any sales records or just be a game for gamers? (Artsy types like us that frequent video game forums are probably going to buy / try this game, no matter what. Regardless of which consoles it is on and the size of the potential install base, do you think Spore can compete with the sales of games that have hugely popular personas and fanatical fans like Halo or GTA?)

Thanks for your time.

I guess it takes millions of dollars so they don't think they will sell enough to make it worthwhile.

I know I'd pay $19.99 and download the whole thing if Al Lowe did it.

Thanks for the replies all.

Yeah I played Magna Cum Laude at E3 years ago on an XBOX I think, and the company producing it was just a bunch of random dudes. Al Lowe was certainly not involved in that game. It wasn't even Sierra.

About a year ago I tried Magna Cum Laude for PC, and although an OK game, its not a Leisure Suit Larry. It starred his nephew, had a completely annoying voice, and was all mini-games. I don't know if they thought they were attacking the college crowd or something, but the game was reduced to an amusement park where you walked to different people to play different games. The game isn't even risque enough to be considered rewarding in the way Larry always was.

The end of the last Al Lowe Larry game was Larry getting beamed up into a spaceship.

Let's see a Space Quest and Larry collaboration!

Well, stats say there's still quite a large CS 1.6 or other community.

I heard a rumor a little while back that Al Lowe was actively trying to get funding for another Larry game that he would produce himself with his own staff. If anyone could bring back the adventure game and keep us entertained with today's standard of game play it's one of the people that built Sierra.

Does anyone know more about this or if he has had any interviews discussing this?

Haha at least you didnt take my comment personally. Kudos to you for taking criticism.

/salute

Oh, and I think you're referring to the episode where Hank, the main character, was diagnosed with a small eurethra. (pee tube) LOL but one about his butt being too small would be pretty funny.

And now that I think of it, I expect to see Hank and all his friends as playable characters in a game about lawnmower racing.

Well, you don't need the "hot coffee mod" to see the content in SA. All the mod does is 1) make it so you can cheat and get the points in the game that allow you to see the sex scenes. 2) makes the girls naked instead of mostly clothed.

So, if you do all these quests which involve dating the girl, you get to see a sex mini-game. The content is not implied at all, you literally are pushing buttons and switching positions to keep a "arousal" meter or some such thing moving up and not dropping below a threshhold.

Its the dumbest thing you've ever seen and not sexy at all. It is however, graphic. haha, bad joke.
