Not so long ago in a time far far far away (as in time period) a young child first had his first share of gaming on the PC playing the likes of Prince of Persia, Johnny Bash and Jill of the jungle. As much fun as these games were to the young child, they indeed inadequte, and the child knew this.
As his skills progressed the child went on to better games playing the likes of Age of Empires II, Diablo II and Thief II all of which did nothing for the child. As smart and creative he was, these games were not a challange that he longed for in games. His attention was then turned to the racing games where in all honesty, the child loved. The thrill of the chase in the Need for Speed games were addictive and for the first time the child felt something right about his games. Speed just felt right, but was not quite there.
No, the childs true education starting in his late teens where for the first time the young teenager would have his first taste at an FPS game. The console was Xbox and the game was Halo. Fast intense battles for survival, ammo and health packs to save the human race. Tactical and strategic, the multiplayer excelled at anything the young teenager had ever played. For the first time in his gaming career, the teenager had at last found his calling in gaming. He was the epitomy of FPS and everything about him screamed First Person Shooter.
The teenager of course started the lowest of the low and at the time was beaten in 1 Vs 1 combat by 20 to 1, beaten by the man they call The Fragman. At the time the teeanger was but a student, but in time he would take the crown from the king and be renamed Black Eye Hawk.
As the Halo games came out the young Spartan would defeat his enemy in hand to hand combat, killing most of his enemies with beat downs. The young child that turned into a Spartan found his calling. As time went on Black Eye Hawk found that not was he one the ultimate killing machines, but also one of the best drivers that Halo had ever seen. In time he and his student, Scarred would rule the lands with noting but their wits and a Warthog.
Till this FPS rules in my heart of hearts.
