The Best Beatles Songs (Orchestrated and Easy Listening)

For your listening enjoyment, I present to you the best Beatles songs that were originally written with an orchestrated twist. I've also included an easy listening section to this blog entry, if you're into that kind of music too.

Category: Orchestrated

If you like some orchestrated music coupled with some good Beatles tracks to accompany your day, then you'll enjoy these. Most of these are addicting to listen to - simply because they're so good...

*Pretty good songs

**Music for your soul

***So good - they're almost required

Eleanor Rigby - Revolver (1966)**

This song's pretty short and sweet - wound up with a creepy yet fascinating story that can be found within the lyrics. A great song overall - one of my favorites. But then again - most Beatles songs are my favorites.

She's Leaving Home - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)

Without a doubt one of the most underrated Beatles songs - but I think it's one of the most touching songs the Beatles ever wrote. There's a message in this one - but I'll leave it to you to decipher it.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (LOVE Album Version) - 2006***

This song was originally written in 1968 on the self-titled album, The Beatles (or better known as the "White Album") by George Harrison. The original version can be found here. The LOVE Album version contains a string arrangement coupled with a demo that George Harrison originally wrote as a demo for the song, which featured only his voice, an acoustic guitar, and an organ. I like this version better, but you can see a live performance of it here.

Golden Slumbers - Abbey Road (1969)**

This song is actually mixed with three other songs on Abbey Road, with "Carry That Weight", "The End", and "Her Majesty". In this video, however, it is cut to only Golden Slumbers, if you wanted to only hear that particular song. If you want to hear them all as they were originally mixed, you can hear it here.

Octopus's Garden (LOVE Album Version) - 2006*

Only some parts of this song may be orchestrated, but it's good nonetheless. Hope you catch some music clips hidden within the song! Here's one for you. Check out the next song. It'll blow your mind.

Good Night - The Beatles (White Album) - 1968**

Yup, this song was mixed into the beginning of Octopus's Garden, if you didn't hear it. Like Octopus's Garden, this song was sung by Ringo Starr - the drummer of the Beatles. He may have had only a few songs (since his singing voice was deeper than the other three members) - but the songs that he sung were indeed great. This is just one relaxing song - and if you know the lyrics, then try singing it to your child as a lullaby!

I Am the Walrus - Magical Mystery Tour (1967)

A psychedelic song. And if you don't know what it is, then find out - you're on the internet, right? Anyways, this song is one of those songs that give you that trippy feeling when you listen to it. It may be a little repetitive at times - but this song's still a good one. Even if the movie was completely... weird.

Across the Universe - Let it Be [1968]**

In my opinion one of the greatest songs The Beatles ever performed - so great that it inspired a movie. This is a different version of Across the Universe that The Beatles did. The other sounded a little different than this one - I would provide the link, but I've no idea where the original video is. Sorry!

Jealous Guy - Imagine (1971)**

Although The Beatles had disbanded by the time this song was released on John Lennon's Imagine album, it is commonly believed that John Lennon had written this song for his very close bandmate, Paul McCartney. However, others say that it was the band's travels to India that inspired both Lennon and McCartney of writing songs about inner peace and nature. However both are equally true.

The Long and Winding Road - Let it Be (1969)***

One of the greatest songs ever written. In history! Originally meant to be on just a piano, Paul McCartney wrote this song in Scotland in the midst of all of the tension in the band, which led to their break-up in 1970. Originally written as a piano ballad, this song actually was one of the reasons of the band's break-up. After hearing the original version, producer Phil Spector thought the bass playing of Lennon (which McCartney usually did, but he was on a piano, so Lennon did it) was awful, so Spector decided to add an orchestra into the song to cover up Lennon's mistakes on the bass guitar. McCartney was outraged claiming that adding the orchestra arrangement was a means of sabotage - and this made the tension worse between the bandmates.

Piggies - The Beatles (White Album) - 1968

This is kind of a weird song - about pigs. I don't really listen to this one often, so I don't know much about this song.

Get Back/Glass Onion - LOVE Album (2006)

This song mixes up two songs - "Get Back" and "Glass Onion" together for the compilation album LOVE. This is one of the best mixes on the album - it mixes up dozens of Beatles songs together to make up pure awesomeness.

A Day in the Life - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)***

One of the greatest songs in the history of forever. This song is just pure legendary songwriting and epic orchestra playing. Features John Lennon singing as lead and McCartney singing in the middle of it. However, there's a really creepy reversed message at the end of the song. Just letting you know that. I myself have never heard the ending reversed, but I hear it has to do with a dog howling or something like that. Anyways, thanks to T_REX305 for telling me I missed this one.

One big update, right? Expect another large list of songs (maybe even larger in the next blog entry - "Easy Listening Beatles Songs") soon. Hope you enjoyed the songs!
