Blessings in Disguise

Word is that there is a 360 shortage. Pre-orders have reached its max. Anyway I wouldn't be able to afford it right now. I will just wait it out to maybe next summer-06 or even Holidays-06 or dare I say summer -07. It will give time for games & consoles to drop in price. To see what games are available & at what price. Not to mention to allow developers to adjust to the new technology. I also I have enough games to keep me busy not to mention the upcoming games on the current generation consoles. There are other priorities right now than expensive consoles. So I will take a wait & see approach to what the next-generation has to offer especially Nintendo's "Revolution". Will Sony's PS3 be as powerful as they say it is? Will 360 be the best overall value as the PS2 was in this current generation? I will wait at least one-year to decide on which console to purchase. By then all 3 will be on the market.

Nintendo DS & X-Box 360 & Other Stuff

I just traded a few of my games including my GBA SP for a Nintendo DS. I thought I would liquidate much of my sports games on the PS2, GC, GBA, & X-Box. Plus non-sport games that didn't keep my interest. I thought now would be the best time to do it because we are on a verge of a new Video Game sport season. So I traded these games while they still had good value & I got a Nintendo DS out of it. But I didn't get any DS games yet. Maybe in the fall when Age of Empires & Black & White:Creatures come out. Shogun also looks intriging. There is also Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart, Madden Football, Winning Eleven, Burnout. PSP looks awesome but who can afford to buy a portable machine for that outrageous price. At least the DS price is somewhat affordable used.

I would have liked to get the PS3 first but the price is too high. It is 400 hundred USD plus another 150 USD for the hard drive. Insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.You don't even have any games yet!!!. X-box 360 is 300 USD with hard drive. I am primarily a Sports gamer so 360 should be enough until the PS3 slims down along with its price.

In 2006 & maybe 2007 as well I am looking to build on my GC, X-Box, & PS2 game collection. Finishing out my wish list on these systems. I am going to try to be very selective in the current generation of games.

As for 360 I will get it to play mostly the latest sports games, & Tom Clancy games, & games that impress me. Again I am going to be very selective in the games I purchase. I am not going to get caught up in the hype & run out & buy a game new or used because it got a 10 out of 10. I am going to think is this game for me? Will I get the full value from it? If it is not a sports game will I play it now & a few years from now?

It is time to go save for 360 & wait out games until their prices drop. Will Mario Power Tennis ever drop in price? I have been waiting forever it seems. At least the price for PS2-Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has droped. Off to play Chaos Theory & Madden football. I didn't trade all of my sports games. I would be insane to do that! I am a hard-core sports gamer. Until next time.

Next Generation of Consoles

In this upcoming generation I am leaning towards believe it or not The Nintendo Revolution. But they will be th last to come out. So I am considering on getting X-Box 360 first to quench my Sports gaming thirst & my Splinter Cell fix. I would like to buy Sony's system first but the price & size of the Machine will force me to wait for a price drop & a slimmed-downed version of the PS3. I bought the PS1 brand new over the N64 in the first generation of the next generation of consoles. I bought the PS2 one year after the launch of the PS2. I think Sony offers the best overall package. It was only in the Holiday season 2004 I bought a brand new Gamecube. I wanted to get a system that was Kid friendly for my children plus I wanted to relive some of the old fashioned video game fun I had back in the 80's with Nintendo's NES. I must say I am not dissappointed with The GameCube. I will definitly keep this system into the next-generation. Sony games are great but Nintendo's games have an everlasting appeal. Timeless playable classics. As for the Snooze-Box/X-Box I must say I can take it or leave it. I picked up the system used to play Ninja Gaiden, Halo, Top Spin, Thief-Deadly Shadows, & the Tom Clancy games which translate best on the X-Box. In the end it is all about the games & the Snooze Box just doesn't cut it. I am getting the X-Box 360 first because of the price & to play updated sports titles in the upcoming generation, Halo, & Tom Clancy games. When Sony is affordable I will continue to build on my Sony games collection. But I can't wait for The Revolution. I am hoping their new controller will take sports gaming to the next level much like the PS2 controller did. Then eventually I will be playing my Sports Simulation on the Revolution. As for this generation the PS2 is king of controls in sports gaming. Fight Night is a prime example. X-Box has the best Sports graphics but what is the point if you can't get virtual athlete to respond fast enough because of clunky controls. It is no wonder that X-Box's 360 controller looks like a knock of Playstation's. Up to PS1 I have always owned on console per-genration but with the improve quality of games it just makes sense to own all of them in generation if you can afford it. Especially now that The Revolution can play 20 years of Nintendo classics. I have owned in the past an Atari 2600, Nintendo's-NES, Sega Genesis, PS1 & currently a PS2, GC, X-Box. As for portables I will save that for another entry.
