Seems like it's going to be a terrain/atmospheric-flight based RTS without the deep-space/3D elements of its spiritual predecessors. Shear speculation, of course. Still excited, though.
Thank you for writing this article, too many gaming websites have a complicitous relationship with publishers by feeding unwarranted hype. Gaming (PC and console) was so awesome 10 years ago and beyond. Now it's rarely an artistic process, yet it's more lucrative for publishers than it's ever been. GameSpot, you have my gratitude for trying to bring attention to the trend. And anybody who jumps down the author's throat because you're "so totally positive AC3 will be the best game ever made because the previous sequels were competent to good and they deserve my money regardless of what they produce", I suggest you learn a lesson in healthy skepticism and start judging games based on the completed product rather than their predecessors and launch trailers.
I was personally offended by the multitude of heterosexual dialogue options. Why not force the player character to be gay Or at least give me several dudes I can choose between when seeking a space-boyfriend. Hikaru Sulu was gay and most people say that spacefaring civilizations will adopt homosexuality en mass as a mechanism of population control. As Mass Effect 3 clearly and unequivocally demonstrates, the age of the heterosexual has come to an end. Mass Effect 3 will inevitably usher in a new dawn, a gay dawn. It will be a moment of tremendous societal transcendence once men of power are no longer subject to the corrupting manipulation, exploitation, and cruelty they have long endured at the hands of women to whom they have been biologically enslaved to since inception. Through homosexuality a man can be liberated from this cruel form of enslavement. It is actually women, who are terrified of losing sexual influence, who are the primary proliferators of anti-gay rhetoric. The female lack of empathy, humanity, kindness, compassion, and sympathy will ultimately force men to genetically modify their sexual preference with the sole intent of liberating themselves from cruel and sadistic female oppression.
It would be better if women focus on developing games that are catered to their own demographic, while leaving the development of men's games in the hands of men. This whole situation could have been avoided with simple common sense.
Proud to say I ended my relationship with Blizzard when they tried to sell me a third of Starcraft 2 for $60. It's a decision I feel even better about after reading this.
