[QUOTE="NintendoFan22"][QUOTE="Rod90"]How can people NOT like Super Paper Mario? Sure, it wasn't a pure RPG like the prequels, but it was still an awesome game, even if it was worse than TTYD.Rod90
Being disappointed in a game doesn't necessarily mean you hate or don't like the game. For me personally, I thought Super Paper Mario was a good game. I played through it a few times, and it was very enjoyable. It's just that Paper Mario and Paper Mario TTYD are two of my favorite games of all time, and when I heard they were making a new Super Paper Mario, I expected the gameplay to be like the first 2 games. It was certainly a unique game and there are a lot of cool characters that they put into there. I liked the gameplay, I liked the characters, I liked the story. It's just that I really expected Super Paper Mario to work like the first 2 games. Super Paper Mario was a great game. I was just disappointed because it wasn't nearly as good as the two Paper Mario games that came before it. Dimentio was an awesome villain, and he was certainly a highlight in that game, and the whole Tippi and Count Bleck love story was interesting as well.

So you didn't know the game had a different gameplay than the sequels before you bought it?

Actually, as sad as this may sound, I didn't. I don't know why I didn't follow the game more closely since I am a huge Paper Mario fan and I have been checking for updates on the 3DS one. I might have known a few days before, but if I remember correctly, I think I actually thought is was gonna be like the first 2. I certainly don't regret buying it though because it does have a lot of good points like I said. When I first played it though, I remember being disappointed. Hopefully the one for the Wii U goes back to being like the N64 and Gamecube versions. I know the 3DS is going back to the old gameplay. That is, if they make one for the Wii U, which I am guessing they will.

This is really a DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE kind of thing. I mean there are so many great characters, so many great stages, so many great memories that I don't think I can really narrow it down to 1. I mean, when it comes to the stages, Hyrule Temple and Poke Floats are two that come to mind. As far as the characters, I love Yoshi, Pikachu, Zelda, Roy (COME BACK) and Mario. I mean all the characters are cool.. man this is hard to choose. As far as the memoires go, I had more good memories with this game than any other game. I got it as a gift for Christmas 2001 along with Luigi's Mansion so it was one of the first two Gamecube games I played and I have to say that I couldn't put it down. I was so epic, a huge step up from the first one. I can't even begin to imagine how much hours I got with that one game. And if you told me to choose my favorite game of all time, I might just pick Melee honestly. Truly epic game! Awesome memoires playing it from Christmas to New Years and MANY MANY days after that! :)

And add to that that it's the fastest selling Zelda game. I mean that's huge. If you see that as a failure, that's crazy. People love Skyward Sword. It's never gonna top Mario or Pokemon in terms of sales. But I do think a system without a Zelda game would upset a lot of people. For some people, a system without a Zelda game would be just as upsetting as a system without a Mario or Pokemon game. I mean look at a lot of these polls. Zelda is ahead of Mario and Pokemon on some of those polls, and that's HUGE considering how popular Mario and Pokemon are.

No, they shouldn't and they won't. Don't expect Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, or Metroid to go anywhere for a long time. The fact that Zelda sold 500,000 copies is huge for that series. It really is. That was its best opening week. The sales of that series are obviously growing. It's not like any Zelda in the past has sold that many copies. I mean this isn't one of Nintendo's most successgul franchises in terms of sales. Mario and Pokemon are on top for that. But I mean the fact that it grew in sales is huge for it, it still has a fanbase. Many people agrue Skyward Sword is the best Wii game. Many people say the Ocarina of Time is the best game ever. Many people say Zelda is Nintendo's best franchise. Zelda doesn't have to reach Mario levels. It is doing good FOR A ZELDA GAME, and that's what matters right?

Well, you have to love the Wii for what it is. When it first came out and I got Wii Sports, I knew this system was unlike anything Nintendo dd before. The controller and the controls were awesome, Wii Sports was a great experience. Huge points for Nintendo for thinking that up. There is a reason they sold 90 million copies of the Wii. And of course, the games. I mean as a whole, this wasn't Nintendo's best library of games. Nintendo has made better games in the past. However, the games that were good were REALLY good. I love what they did with SSBB and the adventure mode. They keep adding more features to those games which is great. The final smashes were a great idea. Although, I still wouldn't go out and say "Brawl is a better game than Melee." I certianly got more play time from Melee and maybe even more excitement. I don't know what it was. I really don't. I don't know what made Melee stand out to me that makes me actually think it can compete with Brawl which should have been ten times better that Melee honestly, but it is what it is. Mario Kart Wii was a brilliant game. SMG 1 and 2 are brilliant games. Donkey Kong came back in a huge way, and I also love New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Although I was disappointed by Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario, they were still good games. Super Paper Mario just didn't compare with the first 2 Paper Marios, and Mario Party 8 wasn't even close to the greatness of the first 4 Mario Party games.

What games disappointed you the most from the Wii? I am not asking which games were bad. You could still think they are good games. I am asking which games let you down the most. For me, I have 2. The first one being Mario Party 8. I am a huge Mario Party fan. I loved it since the N64 era. I do find it to be a decent game, and I do have fun playing it. I just don't think any of the mini games were that memorable. The boards were alright. They had nothing to really draw you in. In fact, I think the Mario Party franchise took a step down in general after the 4th one. The first 4 were my favorites for sure. I mean not only did they have the best mini games, but they also had great boards and things that really drew you in. Mario Party 3 had that great story mode, Mario Party 2 had the characters dress up, Mario Party 1 had the last place finisher getting attacked at the end, which was fun. Mario Party 8 just didn't compare, and I hope Mario Party 9 is better. I really do. The second one is Super Paper Mario. Don't get me wrong. This was a good game. I loved the story. It wasn't the typical Mario story, the villains were awesome. Dimentio might even be one of the best Paper Mario villains ever. He was one of Nintendo's finest for sure. The whole love story with Count Bleck and Tippi was cool. It was nice to see Bowser as a good guy. They allowed other villains to take the spotlight, which is what I like about TTYD as well. It wasn't just Bowser as the main villain, stealing Peach again. What made the game so disappointing though is that they completely got rid of the partners you had in the first 2 games who actually had personality and a story behind them. Tippi was the only interesting Pixl of the group. The game really was way too easy. The last fight against Super Dimentio was one of the easiest boss battles in Paper Mario history and he was the last one. They could have made that battle much harder. Also, they changed the battle style competely. I was looking forward to this game so much and it let me down. It didn't have the greatness of the first 2 Paper Mario games. I am glad to hear Paper Mario 3DS will be like the first 2, and hopefully the one for the Wii U (if there is one) will be like the first 2 as well. .

There are still some games I want to get like Skyward Sword, Mario Party 9 and Kirby Return to Dreamland before I make my decision. Out of the games I have, I have to give it to Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 as probably the best Wii games. However, when it comes to my personal favorite, I think it is a battle between SMG 1 and 2 and SSBB. Mario Kart Wii rounds out the top 3, I think.

I haven't bought Skyward Sword yet. However, people are saying it is the best Wii game and maybe even the best Zelda game so I would definitely check it out. In addition to that, I would also suggest that you buy Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Returns, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Kirby Return to Dream Land. There are also many more great Wii games but those are definitely that main ones that all Wii owners should have.

Hey, everyone. As we all know the Wii era is coming to a close, and while it certainly had its fans and haters, no one can deny that Nintendo once again hit it out of the park. It drew in more casual gamers than ever before with the Wii Sports and Wii Fit titles. Its major franchises proved to be major successes. Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 easily became 2 of the best and most well reviewed games of the generation. A major come back for the Mario series after Super Mario Sunshine, which many saw as a huge disappointment. Zelda recently released Skyward Sword which some are calling the best Wii game ever made (I didn't get it yet, it's on my Christmas list so I will have to see if it really lives up to that title). Donkey Kong and Kirby made some major comebacks as well. And like always, Mario Kart proved to be one of Nintendo's best sellers. In addition to that, New Super Mario Bros. Wii was also a huge hit. And of course, the Wii has sold 90 million systems. However, a major complaint has been that Nintendo has focused more on the casaul gamers that it has forgot about the hard core gamers. As the Wii U approaches, my question is this: what would you like to see Nintendo do with that major franchises. How can they improve the Mario games. Where would you like to see Mario go next. Is SMG3 on the way or would you like to see something else? What would you like to see Nintendo do with the other Mario titles such as Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Mario sports, Mario Party, etc? This is basically a thread about what you want to see next from Nintendo's main franchises (Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, etc) when the Wii U comes out. Where do you want to see these characters go? How can Mario improve on his great showing this generation? Tell me your thoughts. There really are a lot of ways you could answer this kind of a question, and I would love to hear what everyone has to say.
