Did you forget that it took NVIDIA one year to develop a stable driver for Vista? The same acusation where flying when XP, Win 2000 or 98 were launch. Do you tried playing a game using Linux? After a 15 minutes instalation of the Nvidia driver command line style (no GUI) the game wouldn' t recognize the drivers and no drivers no game. I don' t like MS. I think they are borderline idiots just look at Steve Balmer. They lost a great deal with Vsita.
I had both AMD and Intel processors there both good for Guys the price is the most important part for choosing a new computer. "Enthusiasts" make only a small percentage of the market, barely 10% according to a study. If they make a product that has a good performance/ price ratio they will win. Nokia doesn' t sell tens of millions of N80, but models like 1200. Remember is better to have many competitors not just one.
To ATI and Nvidia fanboys shut up both companies are pricing fixing, encouraging developers to develop games for their top of the line chips, making bad products for mainstream gamers look at the current line: isn' t just drivers it' s badly design for today and tommorow games. Just look at the previous generations. By doing this they are killing PC gaming along with developers and publishers that make or distribute awful games.
OK in the Gamespot review HD 2600 beats the 8600 but in the Anand Tech review is the other way around. :) On paper HD 2600 is better than 8600 but I' ll way a couple of new reviews.
I am waiting for 8600 GTX, 8700, 2650, 2600 XT or a 2700 which I hope will not have the problems of today DX 10 cards. WIth 400 $ I will buy a good AMD X2 processor and at least 1 Gb of RAM. Sincerely I don' t know who trust: Gamespot, Anand and Tom say HD 2900 XT is a good card better than GTS 640 then there are sites like HardOCP, legitreviews, etc who say it sucks. Most of the posts here "Nvidia is better no ATI is better". I think we are missing the point: who do you trust to offer a fair, balanced, trusworthy review of hardware.
It doesn' t matter you have over 2 Gb RAM and X Gb of Flash if you look at the scores you will see that in most of the tests the frame rates remain the same because the mechanism isn' t optimized yet.
Vista = chinese copy of Mac OS X. Just look at this movie: http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2007/nyt-vista-ripoff-osx-p1.php Mac fanboys are right. Wait untill SP1 for Vista then upgrade (will be out in June).
