Confirmed as only one wiiu controller per console, the console would need to be incredibly powerful to handle a bunch of controllers, remember that the console does all the CPU and GPU processing and just streams this to the controller wirelessly ... I doubt there is a tech which can do this in a cost effective fashion for more than 1 controller AND keep the WiiU's HD quality graphics.

Your missing the point though, the WiiU controller is just a slave to the console, it doesn't have any thinking power or processing power meaning everything it does is a direct from the console, where as the GBA connectivity was a 'tethered' device which had to render and process its own graphics etc.

Hi, God I hate, and love Nintendo at the same time, firstly I hate them for not showing more, for not giving out a bit more information, argh! but I love them at the same time, the entire concept off the WiiU and it's one central controller is just mind boggling, ever since the conference yesterday my mind just boggles as to what can be done with it, for example my favourite idea atm is to have a top down 'strategy' view for an RTS so you can command your units like the old C&C's used to be, but then on screen you have full HD closeup's of the action!! Even silly things like a rear view mirror in a racing game, or inventory holding for a MMORPG, or how about having a hide and seek mode on FPS, other players go split screen, the main player hides using the WiiU controller ... Anyone else had ideas? for me though, a FULL HD 1080p console with decent lossless sound output, a new innovative controller and breathtaking graphics is WOW, let alone the fact its backwards compatible, small in size and uses the old wiimotes we know and love!! I dunno, this sort of thing has a LOT of appeal to the entire age range of gamers, the youngsters and family players get the cheesy but ever so fun, addictive puzzle/arcade/family games which are quick and addictive. Yet the hardcore gamers get the HD graphics, unique controls, decent sound etc ... I can see a LOT of potential in this and can see it easily being one of the quickest selling consoles! the 3DS sales are only low atm due to virtually no games for it.

Im still shocked Nintendo have actually gone 1080p FULL HD, with full lossless 8ch sound AND have managed to keep the size to a tiny bit bigger than the Wii, AND the graphics that come out of it on early 'buggy' builds are jaw dropping ... both tech demo's where, erm wow!

I can't see it being too heavy, remember it's just a dummy/slave terminal for the console to stream graphic's to, it's not as if it's got CPU/GPU etc inside of it like the handhelds have, if anything, having it 'larger' makes items 'feel' lighter, its a subconcious thing.

I would imagine, looking at the fact the video feed is streamed to the controller, which is nothing more than a 'dummy' screen, that multiple controllers may not be possible (e.g. technical limitation) ... what they look like they will do is the 'main' player will use the screen whilst the rest run on the original controllers. If you are sitting at home together, this opens up a lot of co-op style gameplay, the imagination runs wild here, direct vs battle's though may be different, they may even abandon the controllor for split screen vs scenarios, I suppose it will be down to each game as to how it's used. I'm expecting we will get some more information nearer the end of the year at the Nintendo event we all love :D
