Outrageous Claims

So it is 12:45 (EST) in the morning right now and I happen to be on the internet looking at various game sites looking at any noteworthy news or updates that might pique my interest. It is in doing this that I stumbled across some very outlandish claims written by a right wing columnist who uses faith to spread his messages. As a conservative I support various traditional Republican views however I would not categorize myself as a right wing nut job as Kevin McCullough clearly makes himself out to be. What does this have to do with anything you're asking? Who is this Kevin McCullough character? Well let me explain, as a member of the gaming community we constantly hear about how games are the plague of society and every single man, woman and child who unfortunately interacts with a video game in any sort of mentally stimulating way will become either a rapist, serial killer, outcast or all of the above and will come to lead a long and unfulfilling life living in the shadows of civilization; and video games on a whole need to be banned through harsh legislation and only when this is achieved will our society be saved. Enter Mr. McCullough. This man has written an article on a recently released RPG called Mass Effect. I personally will come straight out and say that I myself have not played the game due to insufficient funds however several of my friends own the game and have beaten it. I have seen game play online, read and watched the reviews for the game and have seen in person one of my friends play the game when he was trying to persuade me to buy it over Ace Combat 6 which, I have come toregret my decision especially in light of the outrageous remarks in Mr. McCullough's recent article which highlights some of the game's more sensual and titillating moments that seem to be prevalent throughout the game.

"It's called "Mass Effect" and it allows its players - universally male no doubt - to engage in the most realistic sex acts ever conceived. One can custom design the shape, form, bodies, race, hair style, breast size of the images they wish to "engage" and then watch in crystal clear, LCD, 54 inch screen, HD clarity as the video game "persons" hump in every form, format, multiple, gender-oriented possibility they can think of."

No people, I am not lying, our dear friend Mr. McCullough actual wrote this in his article, and it continues in this perverted sex fantasy tone throughout his entire rambling speech. Even though I have not played the game I'm almost 99.9876999% certain that this man, a.) Has never played the game, and b.) Has probably never even read a review for this game. Is it sad that someone is able to have a voice in a public outlet and be able to spread such untrue and disgusting propaganda about such an important issue? And what continues to make this even more sickening is that this attack on video games does not stop there. In the very next line McCullough goes and objects to this "filth" and implies that if you are not as disgusted as he is then you must be some sort of disgusting, pedophiliac, sex fiend. Well I'm not sure about you but I guess you can go right ahead and slap that label on me because the only thing I am disgusted with is this man's article (if you can even call it that)... but not disgusted enough where we can't continue soldiering on through the muck called "Kevin McCullough's Opinion"

"And because of the digital chip age in which we live - 'Mass Effect' can be customized to sodomize whatever, whoever, however, the game player wishes. With it's 'over the net' capabilities virtual orgasmic rape is just the push of a button away."

Yup folks you just correctly read that paragraph, you, or your children could be involved in "virtual orgasmic rape" and god help us all if little Timmy begins trying to try these new techniques he is learning from video games on Shy Sally who lives just up the street from him. Garbage. Rubbish. Propaganda at its finest. Does this gentleman, and I use the term loosely, actually believe the trash that is spewing from his mouth? I have never read such absolutecrap in my life. The remainder of his article is constant attacks on Mass Effect and video games in general and how the normal people who have something of a conscious should really try and fight the evil that games inflict upon the populace. Especially the male youths of society. In Kevin McCullough's defense however, he probably just saw a few screenshots of the game and became outraged enough to write his article against the industry. I mean, once you see a few screenshots of realistic looking video game characters in tight, form fitting space suits you can forgo all sense of journalistic integrity and responsibility and write an inflammatory article that is sure to not only piss people off, but make no sense whatsoever.

I am incredibly disgusted with this man and his article and so everyone can share in the misery I provided links to the actually post:

I hope this aggravates all you Game-Nerds as much as it aggravates me. Godspeed.
