so i just got monster hunter freedom 2 for psp, and it is impossible for me to kill any of the "bigger" monsters. i can kill stuff like the giadrome and giaprey and that level, but whenever i enter any lvl 1 quest where i have to fight a tigrex or there is a tigrex in it, i end up getting killed by it in 2 blows and land only maybe 1 or 2 hits on it. i use your first great sword mostly and the snowy armor you get from the beggining. I have no idea how ppl are killing all these huge "boss" monsters with the giant wpns and armor(that i cannot seem to find). so i was wondering if anyone could help or relate to this-eitch8

LOL, you cannot kill a Tigrex cause you're not supposed to! You're supposed to run away from it. If you read the quest, it says there is a chance that a tigre/wyvern will be there, you're not to fight it.

Like someone already said, you need to kill a tigrex in the 6 level quests with good equips.

Monster Kingdom Jewel Summoner is exactly like pokemon except it has a good storyline, more mature, and your monsters actually move.

Your monsters level, gain skills, evolve etc. You catch monsters too.

Thanks for the opinion, but usually when a game vaults into a top spot it's because there's some news associated with it--just wondering if there was anything else going on with it. It's kinda looking like a cult favorite despite it's lukewarm reviews--I'll have to check it out.

Well, there's a new MHF game out in Japan called Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd G. Basically it's the same game with tons of new weapons, skills, maps etc and you can hire a cat to fight with you and level it up. Too bad it's only released in Japan, no announcement of it coming to North America any time soon.

Can anyone elaborate on this game's popularity as of late? It's been in the #1 spot for PSP for the last few days and I'm wondering why.mickcivic

Because it's the best game ever made for the psp. People who say it isn't, haven't played the game enough. The game was made 2 years ago, yet still has the best graphics and remains the best game on the psp.

Gamespot people only played the game for 20min. It becomes obvious when they complain about the "no lock-on" system. There is no lock-on system because some monsters need to have a certain part of their body attacked. Some need their tails cut off, some need to their legs attacked so the monster falls down etc. You face the first of these monsters 30-50min into the game. Stupid of Gamespot.

Really brings down the image of gamespot, they've proved they play a game for a few mins and then review it. I've stopped using gamespots reviews soon after that,

Homebrew might raise PSP sales but it doesn't help the game developers who are more discouraged to produce games for the PSP.

How does homebrew not help developers? That sounds really stupid to me. Do you know what homebrew is? It's applications and games made by people. Homebrew does NOT include pirating games. They are 2 seperate things. If sony was smart, they'd release a firmware that allows homebrew and then start making programs for it, they can make a lot of money off it. Of course after they figure out a way to stop pirating, which is possible.

I have a custom firmware psp, I do NOT pirate games. I use it for homebrew. I have applications that allow me to cheat on games, have a calender for my busy schedule etc. Homebrew gives the psp unlimited capabilites, I can even run Windows Vista on it.

Homebrew is the future for the psp once game pirating is stopped.

I picked up Monster Hunter Freedom 2 at eb games, months ago. I played it for 20-30min and thought to myself, it sucked!

Days later, I tried it again and could not put it down! The battles are epic, it actually takes skills, you're actually a hunter.

I faced my first Wyvern soon after. It had a couple of monsters with it. I rolled, attacked, I used traps to take it down. It ran away from me, but I used a paintball to track it down. There, on the next screen, the monster is alone. The freezing wind taking down my stamina, but I used a hot drink to keep myself moving. It jumped onto me, I flew back 50 feet. It ran at me as I got up, a rolled and slashed it's head to finish it off

Points:

1. Later on, the monsters a huge, fit the whole screen,

2.No lock on system because where you hit the monster is how how much damage you do. Like some monsters you must cut of it's tail before you can really do any damage to it. Some monsters you need to attack it's feet to knock it down so you can attack elsewhere.

If you don't like this game, something must be wrong with you guys. I go out hunting with my dad, hunting deer etc. I get the same feeling as I do playing mhf2. Except the deer I can easily kill, and big dragons take a few hits to kill me.

1. PSP homebrew has raised their sales a lot

2. Homebrew is not against the law. It is legal to do so. What is illegal is pirating games and that's what's causing developers to not make games on the PSP

3.Sony has made firmware 4.01 which stops homebrew to a certain extent.

4. Game pirating and homebrew will be dead in a few years cause sony has made unhackable batterys
