Odinunlimited Blog

Hey, It's my Birthday today. Yay!!

I thought Odin was eternal you say. I am. Man, a crazy year for your friendly neighborhood Odinunlimited. I almost can't believe I made it. Well... Hope everyone has a great day today, and raise your Z-swords today in honor of a friend if you get the chance or you could say Happy Birthday... Just as good.

Has anyone out there ever gone through a really tough break-up?

First let me say, sorry I haven't been on for a while. I've kind of fallen into a deep depression. I was recently dumped by a girl I really hoped to build something deep and meaningful with. Yeah, I know the topic says a break-up, but it was pretty one-sided so I'm calling it what it is, and what it is is that I was tossed aside like nothing. I don't really want to get into it too much. I thought getting it off my chest on a blog would help a bit, but it really isn't. I probably won't be on too much for a while, sorry to all my friends at GS. Right now I feel like a whiskey sour, and I think that's what I'm gonna do. Till I re-emerge I remain your friendly (yet depressed) neighborhood Odinunlimited

Gone for the for three days

I will be gone for the next three days. I need to take the sixth graders in my school on a 3 day camping trip. The Battle Arena will be in good hands with Lady_Bahamut while I'm away. I'll be back Friday evening, and I will check to see that everything went well.

Till then,

Looks like I was tagged!

OK you got me Nowe. So, I've gotta list 5 things people don't know about me:

1) I was born in Medellín, Colombia, but raised in Brooklyn/Queens in NYC.

2) I was born a middle child with a younger brother & an older brother.

3) My dream girl is a gamer girl (too bad I've never met one here in New York, every girl I've ever met looks down on gaming)

4) I'm a decent pool player (as in billiard)

5) I'm having trouble thinking of something good to make 5, so how about this, before I decided to go into teaching I worked as an Administrative Assistant about two blocks away from where the twin towers once stood in downtown Manhattan.

Sigh. I think I'm gonna be sick. Oh well, Crisis Core is worth it.

So FFVII: Crisis Core was released in my neighborhood today. This was the reason for me really wanting a PSP. So, I went to my local Gamestop and I asked for a copy of Crisis Core, a PSP slimline & a 2.0 Gig memory stick. They totalled it up, and when I saw the total I got a sick feeling in my stomach, $270.89. I can't believe I spent that much of my hard earned money at once on handheld video gaming. Then I looked at Crisis Core said screw it and felt better about buying it all. I love FF & VII is my absolute favorite with VI as a close second. I'm still looking at the receipt from time to time and freaking a little, so some comforting words would go a long way and be much appreciated.

I'm an officer now?

Hey everyone,

Yuna at the SEE union offered me an officer position, and I accepted. Now I don't like the responsibility that comes with rank, but I figured it was time I step up. I guess I'm an officer now. So FREEZE, GET ON THE FLOOR AND DROP YOUR DRAWERS! What? What do you mean it's not the same as being a police officer? Oh. Anyway, what do you guys think?

P.S. I made level 20 on Gamespot. A nice round number.

As always,

Things going well at my new job, sorry I haven't been on as often everyone.

I know I haven't been on as often as I usually am, but there is a good reason. I recently switched jobs. I was teaching Science, Social Studies, Math, English Language Arts, Life skills and sometimes even Gym to autistic (special ed) students. I am now teaching Science to 4th, 5th & 6th grade students on the upper west side of Manhattan. It has taken me some time to adjust, and thus I haven't had a lot of time to be on Gamespot. I am enjoying my new job a lot though. Another reason that I haven't been on is that I have been working hard studying for my Final and working on my 30 page paper in my Grad School educational assessment class. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the holidays so far. I also hope I haven't missed anything big at the Square-Enix Experience Union since the battling at the Battle Arena ended.

Yay! Three day weekend! I didn't think I'd make it.

Haven't had a lot of time to get on Gamespot lately preparing Progress reports, recording grades and preparing for parent teacher conferences. I haven't had much time to get a decent nights sleep either, but finally I made it to a three day weekend. Tonight I'm going to go to sleep early and wake up some time late tomorrow afternoon. I can't believe I made it through this week and managed to maintain my sanity. The rest of the weekend I'll use to play my games, watch TV and I even get to hit the gym again. I recently ordered Drakengard 1 and 2 (Brand new factory sealed) from amazon.com for $26.28 (that includes $7.98 for shipping and handling), but they don't arrive untill Wednesday. Not to worry though, I picked up a copy of Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 from Gamestop before coming home. Yeah, I know what some of you are saying. Not everyone is into Naruto, but I like the series and I really enjoyed part 1.

Cursed out by the elderly

OK, so I wasn't going to tell this story. I was planning on just keeping it to myself, but I can't seem to let it go. Well, here goes. Today, I was enjoying my day off work (Columbus Day) relaxed, at peace, and generally feeling good. I was taking a walk through Forest Hills. I had just left the local Gamestop when I saw an elderly lady trying to push her cart onto the curb. She was having some trouble so I extended my elbow and said, "Ma'am, would you like some help". In a real nasty voice she replied, "WHAT?". I responded, "Do you want me to put your cart on the curb for you? She looked up at me with a nasty look and said, "What the hell are you doing you idiot? Do you want me to fall? YOU A****** I really wanted to say something mean (such as, Don't get mad at me cause you crapped your adult diapers), but I decided against it. I silently turned right and walked away towards home while she continued to yell other things that I was no longer paying attention to. The streets were crowded, but I was comforted by the fact that the people around seemed to take my side as I heard others say things like, "Man, he was only trying to help" and "What a B****". Man, that sucks how something can ruin your day so easily. Thinking back now, I guess it was pretty funny, so I thought I'd share. Hopefully, it made some of you laugh, and that way some good came out of the experience.

Yours truly,

Shopping for Videogames

I have shopped for my Video games at Gamestop for a long time now, but recently I've been getting kind of tired of my local Gamestop. I can never find any old games they have in stock on the Gamestop shelves or in the bins. They arrangement of games seems chaotic. Another problem I have with my local Gamestop is that when you ask for a new game they always try to push their old scratched up used copies on you. I like the used games. I have nothing against them, but they always try to sneak me an old scratched up disk or a game with a torn up manual. Am I the only one experiencing this. I'm thinking of going to Amazon.com, bestbuy, target or toysrus for my games from now on. I remember before the merger EB Games and Gamestop competed, and it seemed to keep both stores at their best. I don't know, I guess I'm just a little disillusioned with Gamestop.
