Just have to clear something up cause on GameSpot we are throwing the word "Bias" around a lot and I don't think people completely understand the meaning.
let's start with the definitions.
Opinion-"A view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge."
Meaning anytime I make a judgment on something lets say "I don't like the color purple" I'm having a Opinion of it, there's no facts to this judgment it's just my Opinion.
Prejudice-"Preconceived opinion not based on reason or experience."
Since my Opinion on the color Purple is indeed been preconceived now, and as I said before has no reason to it one could view it as a Prejudice against the color.
Bias-"Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair."
Basically means to be Prejudice against something, since it's been concluded that I'm Prejudice against purple that means I have a Bias against the color.
So when I say "I don't like purple" or "I like Blue" I'm Biased, I have no reason for it in the end it's just whether or not I like it.
Here's where the problem is, when reviewing a game it's simply "I enjoyed this because" or "I didn't enjoy this because" there's no way to prove your level of enjoyment so it's a Opinion not based on fact or it could be viewed as Bias.
So when you throw around "GameSpot is Bias" then so would every review site, and every human being for that matter cause we all have things we like and don't like for no reason. They are Opinions and if you don't want to know other people's Opinions on something don't go to a web site that's whole purpose is to give them.
