Yes E3 was extravagant and over the top but so what? It's not like every other industry on Earth doesn't do the same thing. Also E3 is the ONLY gaming event I have ever heard mentioned on the news. The world media still considers gaming to be some foot note of entertainment, and loves to concentrate on the oh-so important topic of saving 15c on canned tuna or which toothpaste won't kill you...garbage. To say that E3 was a spectacle/carnival/show and hence should suffer these cutbacks is missing the point. E3 was all about pulling attention to the gaming world and you can't say it didn't achieve that. Additionally to think that the costs companies are saving here will translate into more money in the game buyers pocket is wishful thinking at best. I think this is a short sighted decision...and now I'll never get to go *sniff*
