Devil May Cry........holy crap O_O

First a little back story. Skip to bold for impressions.

2010 has quite alot of games i want but last year i decided id buy the majority of them in 2011 and beyond. I only recently realised how rapidly prices drop in the UK (I picked up dragon age origins for £8.99 new) so il wait from now on. But there are some games that MUST be purchased on day 1 for full price. So far ive bought Mass Effect 2 and Bayonetta. Then il get Donkey Kong Country Returns and perhaps one other game.

So ive been looking at major series that i missed out on and have narrowed it down to 3. Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid and Slient Hill. Out of all the games out there ive only played MGS4 (which i loved). I recently picked up DMC1 for the high price of £0.78 and got to work today.

Anyway on to Devil May Cry now

holy crap, this game is bloody brilliant. Ive been playing it for the past 2 hours and have enjoyed it very much. Although im sort of confused.

DMC1 is very similar to Resident Evil (classic), but ive never even heard of these similarities. So you can guess how suprised i was when i played it. From the multiple doors, the font, the collecting and even the "You Are Dead" screen, ive been really really suprised. In a good way.

I guess you can say its my fault for never looking at a review but thats how i like going into games, not knowing as little as possible. I just thought after the 100s of things ive read about the game, i would have heard this. Its always being compared to heavy action games like GOW, NG etc. but from what ive played, the combat feels like the secondary part of the game whilst the exploration and simple puzzle solving takes the lead.

I played Bayonetta and hearing how similar it was to DMC i thought this game was going to be moving from arena to arena killing monsters. Coming off Bayonetta too, the combat feels really stiff. It just feels weird having similar moves to Bayonetta, but not having the speed and fluidity of hers. But still, i play games with the mindset of what year they were released in and i bet this was far above anything on the PS2 in 2001.

Im just under 2 hours in and im on chapter 14. I just had a quick look and it says chapter 23 is the final but for some reason the length feels perfect.

Guess thats about it. I always love discovering a new series. I feel like a kid in a candy shop with all these cheap games. I just wanted to ask, why shouldnt i get DMC2? Ive heard so much negativity about it. Keep in mind that i can also get it for
