Ninja Gaiden II (X360) Review
by OtakuRay on Comments
The wildest and disturbed action returns with Ninja Gaiden II, the second delivery of the popular video game from Tecmo. With a devilish speed and doses of violence that make seem to their predecessor a game from Disney, Ryu Hayabusa makes its spectacular debut in Xbox 360, carrying out a title to the highest level of the saga.
The Way of the Ninja
The title, begins in a very hard form; with cinematics that put to us quickly in a situation, but without majors explanations on who is Ryu at the moment or what he has done from the last adventure - like part of the mystery dawn that surrounds to ninjas. The narrative ****continues being faithful to the first episodes, describing the context of history by means of text paragraphs before each level, and deepening in the facts with spectacular cinematics.
The history of Ninja Gaiden II begins with the mysterious Sonia going to the Muramasa merchant in search of Ryu. The young person, special agent of the company, travels to Tokyo with the hope to locate a ninja to try to stop the threat of the clan of the Black Spider, a group of ninjas that tries to revive the Archidemon.
The campaign, on the other hand, lasts formidable, and counts on two levels of difficulty, Acolyte and Warrior. The first one is recommendable for those who take their initial steps in a title of the tax exemption and will be, without no sort of doubts, excessively simple for those who they finished some of the previous deliveries at the time. Warrior, on the other hand, hoards the highest difficulty that has been flag of Ninja Gaiden from its beginnings, and is a so challenging way that, sometimes, it can derive in an absolute desperation.
On the other hand the development of the title is very guided, because apart from the maps which are very linear, often it will not let us pass to the following area until we carry out very concrete actions that, sometimes, do not respond to any logic; like picking up certain objects or parchments. More than once we will be giving returned by a scene from reduced dimensions trying to give with the element or action that allows us to advance. These counted moments of disorientation are the unique breathing that takes the game, because the rest of the time its rate does not become weak.
Following the Lines Masterful
If one has played prior editions from Xbox or from PlayStation 3 of Ninja Gaiden it is easy to take fit in the controls, because these are virtually identical. A button to jump, other to cover himself, one for the strong attack, another one for the smooth attack and the one that is used for the launching of projectiles, the one that is used for the trim of the camera and, finally, the one to accede to the useful vision in first person. With just a pair of buttons for the hand-to-hand combat the wealth of the fight of Ninja Gaiden II is derived from the spectacular stands for combos with the combinations of buttons.
The combats as much leave, therefore, pleasant taste to the first delivery, by their ****as by its dynamics, nevertheless what if has changed remarkably is the violence level that makes finery the second part. Ninja Gaiden II is a wild feast of deaths and mutilations that, of course, is not apt for all the public. Their predecessors always were games very violent, but in this occasion Tecmo has lifted the ribbon of well-known form.
Graphically Remarkable
Ninja Gaiden always has been a visually impressive product, and in the delayed 2004 it supposed one of last ribbons to surpass in the extinct Xbox. Ninja Gaiden II is not so impressive in its present context, but it continues being a very spectacular video game.
Most well-known it is the amount of enemies who move in screen of simultaneous form, avalanche that surely explains some of little leannesses that the title has in the graph. The rate of images per second stays, in addition, of incontestable form in the highest number, without suffering themselves at no moment, it has what is in screen.
Music and sound effects are, as it is custom, another of the appreciated sections by Tecmo. Score could be more or less pleasant based on our tastes, but what it is not possible to be denied it is that its production is shining, and that its adjustment to the action in screen is spectacular.
Ninja Gaiden II, in spite of counting on less surprises of the hoped ones, continues being an excellent and very recommendable product for the lovers of the action and the adventures. Equipped with a devilish speed in the combats, and with a fantastic rate throughout all the adventure, the new title from Tecmo is around which we could hope of an immaculate saga.

Movies to Come

As everyone knows, there are some games coming to the big screen
Street Fighter: The legend of Chun-liFirst Look At Kristin Kreuk As Chun-Li?
Capcom of Japan released the above photo today from the in-production Street Fighter movie, giving us what appears to be our first, heavily artifacted glimpse of Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. It's not the traditional blue outfit we're used to seeing Chun-Li sporting, but she has to put that thing in the wash sometime. Of course, Capcom may simply have a cache of photos of Kreuk looking dirty and disheveled for times like this, so consider this unconfirmed until we get confirmation from Capcom.
First Look At Tekken Movie Costume
Another game, another movie adaptation! Here's a first look at the upcoming Tekken movie. No, better yet, a look at an actor in the movie wearing his movie costume! That's world champ martial arts fighter Cung Le as Marshall Law in his Marshal Law garb. The movie is being directed by Marked for Death director Dwight H. Little and stars former boy band singer Luke Goss as Steve Fox, Kill Bill's Chiaki Kuriyama as Ling Xiaoyu and some other people as other characters.
Looks that there will be a lot of fans (including myself ) hoping that Hollywood dont screw up this movie games this time around.

Playboy Cyber Girl of the Year Is A True Player
Do Playboy models love video games? On a first meeting with Jo Garcia, it'd be easy to levy skepticism. She's Playboy's "Cyber Girl Of The Year," beating out 52 weeks of rival models in an online-only competition. It just happens, Garcia said, that she's "really big into games."
We've seen many beautiful faces representing themselves as gamers, of course; booth babes, models and even amateur cam girls using photos of themselves posed suggestively with game paraphernalia to sell products or drive web hits. Because of this phenomenon, every time you see a so-called "hot gamer chick," the temptation is to assume she can't possibly be an actual gamer.
So is Jo Garcia the real deal? Full interview - and slightly NSFW pics - follow the jump.
"People don't understand that that the whole gaming world is not just for geeks, and assume that every person who plays video games is a geek that wears glasses," Garcia said. "It's a misnomer that needs to be put to rest."
Garcia told us she plays PC games and console titles, and owns both a Nintendo DS and a PSP. "It's something that I carry with me everywhere, like some people carry their iPods. It's the norm to me. I've had people send me messages like, 'oh you play video games?' And I'm like, 'why are you so surprised?"
"If I could get a job... being a game tester, I would do that all day long."
Wouldn't she get sick of it? "I don't think I would! I think that's one of those things... like you can eat chocolate all day long, and I can play video games all day and I'll get lost in them."
Her favorite games? "I love RPGs that tell stories," she said, listing the Final Fantasy series, Radiata Stories and the Xenosaga trilogy among her favorites.
"I like those games because they have a lot of sidequests," Garcia said. "You can build up your character doing small things. I'm 100 hours into FFXII and I'm not even done with the game yet. I'm doing all the hunts and the sidequests - I'm probably a third into the game and my guys are at level 60. I hold my characters high so when I go through the game it's a lot easier."
Yeah. But did she get the Zodiac Spear?
"I actually got the Zodiac Spear the first time I played it... you have to go through hell to get that spear, but I happened to get it the first time because someone told me about it. You can't open certain boxes, but then you have to go through and fight that nasty esper at the end... I died three times before I actually beat it."
Garcia talked quite a bit about RPGs, with an enthusiasm for detail familiar to fans of the genre. She's aware, though, that both gamers and non-gamers might have a hard time believing that a winning Playboy model defers social time with pals to focus on her game console - perhaps because of the manipulative way in which the game industry uses pretty girls, or pretty girls use the game industry, to earn appeal.
Garcia has seen plenty of models paid to act like game fans when they're not, but said it's not the models' fault. "Sex sells," she said. "The thing that most of the guys see... the women taking pictures with an Xbox to make it look more glamorous... you can't blame so much the models, but the companies. [The models] are being paid to be there, like at the game conventions. I know a lot of girls that shoot that kind of stuff, but it's not done on purpose."
"They're trying to make it appeal to men. And I think men need more... finessing than women do. You can do woman-based advertising on a product, but I think if a woman wants to play video games, she's going to buy it regardless of the ads," Garcia said.
"[A woman] thinks more when she makes a purchase, versus guys have to be lured in. So if you just give them something cheezy, that's going to be implanted in their head and they're going to be like, 'I have to buy Call of Duty 4.' Women don't need that finessing. You can give her a million-dollar advertisement, and if she doesn't want to buy it she's not going to buy it."
How, then, does Garcia think that women might dissolve some of the misconceptions around females and games? "I think just playing them," she said. "Even something as small as just doing this. I've shot Playboy stuff with my PSP, and people have asked if I really play video games, and I respond back. I think, just getting more involved in it, and doing more with it, and seeing where it goes."
By the way, according to Garcia, one of Hugh Hefner's favorite rooms at the Playboy Mansion has a broad museum of old arcade cabinets. After seeing it on her first tour, Garcia decided to spend her visit hanging out in there.
"I was in there probably the whole time I was at the house, because I wanted something to do," she said. "I almost finished the whole Donkey Kong while I was there."

Dark Sector's Chromas
I really wasn't that impressed with Dark Sector when I saw it at the Tokyo Game Show last year, but this look at the Chromas sorta makes me think that maybe I was wrong. Of course, I probably wasn't, but there's always a chance.
"Making StarCraft II Is Harder Than Totally New Title"Imagine the weight Blizzard must feel. Talk about pressure! Says lead producer Chris Sigaty: "The original StarCraft has such a huge fan base, and so, in some ways, I think, making StarCraft II is harder had we chosen a totally new title or even one of our others because there's such a hardcore fan base that has certain expectations. That's definitely the biggest challenge from my prospective. No kidding. Blizzard doesn't only to satisfy the expectations of its diehards fans, but those of the entire Korean nation. So, Blizzard, please do let South Korea down.

As I promised, my God of War - CoO review
The tormented envoy of the Gods will begin his particular odyssey in the city of Attica, place from which ours admired and frightful Spartan warrior will begin to demonstrate to us that he is in a perfect form. Their special blows, their combos, their magic and their final executions haven't lost an apex of the spectacularity and rapidity that was demonstrated in PlayStation 2, a console that does not have much to repress to a PSP cause from the first moment it will put to us in the heat of battles, detailed scenes and plagued of enemies.
God of War counts with dense, extensive and interesting eight levels. All of them are interconnected and not solely through the linear advance that implies a work of these characteristics, but thanks mainly to introduction sequences that will frequently use the excellent motor of the game to fuse action, history and puzzles in proportional terms that increase the interest to live a mythologic story that, although is fruit of a free interpretation, manages to have its own life.
As much own life as the very same Kratos that has not forgotten his better movements not even when it is about the bed. We couldn't demand to the Spartan to left his vice by the sex, and is for that reason that he will return to his old ways to demonstrate us that, once in a while, it is a little good a variety within a title that perfectly knows how to mix moments of tension with situations of relax. There for, one of the keys of success of this game is that, like its ancestors, continues showing a worthy repertoire of attacks of the height of the ghost of Sparta.
It is surprising that, with the graphical show that is Chains of Olympus, the machine has not fallen in, sometimes urgent necessity to diminish his "frame rate". On the contrary, the stability of images per second is another of the keys of a work that has found the way to put light reflections, detailed shades and variable within a mythologic visual set that evokes the past, simultaneously, to a world of segmentations between aesthetic fantastic and a realism of blood that will jump off from the enemies and from the own Kratos to impregnate to the ground of the violent and visceral sign of our battle.
Together with this spectacular and almost insurmountable putting in scene, the music displays its better orchestral rhythm (variable according to the situation) to accompany the mythologic thematic through which surely will mark history a title like Chains of Olympus, which is, to date, a product that knows better how good to express the PSP possibilities.
The only weak point of this great adventure is that it is too short but for all this quality I think that the UMD disc got to short to make it a more long game, maybe two UMD discs will have make it a perfect game. Also the glicthes are something that comes and goes but they don't disturb any aspect of the game. It really push the PSP to it limits.
Kratos confirms with this title for PSP the end of its servitude with PlayStation 2 before it arrives to the "next-gen". Its way to do it has been through a game that traces the s-tyle of its older brothers and it clarifies with, whom to date, supposes the best graphical advantage of a PSP. Action, puzzles, fights, a great variety of movements and an excellent putting in scene, in addition to an impeccable accomplishment, are the best foundations for a god of the war that demonstrates that he is in a superb shape.
SCORE - 9.5
